Gonna stuff on my hks fcd so I can go beyond 12psi without fuel cut. Found a great link but alas only can find the ecu pinout for CS uk cars which are different I believe to standard 185's :? Mines a early 91 UK car if that makes any odd's...

Cheers,

Tone

Tone - does this mean you have the knowledge to write a "how to" ;)

Glad it's all sorted! :D

I'm sure if you mange to avoid the dreaded det on the 185 the head gasket will last a whole heap longer ;)

Sure Kris I'll do a howto if you'd like :) I have photo's of how to gut a 185 cat if you'd like that too. I was a mechanic for many moons. If you'd like I'll write up how to's on all the mods I've done, just don't expect em all tomorrow

HKS FCD - HOWTO by moi
------------------------------

Rip down your carpet from the passenger side console footwell to reveal your ECU. To make your job easier I'd also remove the electrical plugs you'll be splicing into.

Your FCD will have four or five wires depending on its model.

1. Yellow - goes to the ECU side of the cut wire (PIM wire)
2. WHITE - goes to the outer side of the cut harness (PIM wire)
3. RED - IG power (+B)
4. BLACK - ground (E1)
5. Mine didnt have this but its GREEN and senses the RPM.

On my 91 UK car the wires I needed to tap into were:

Note - You only have to cut the PIM wire. The other two wires use HKS scotch lock type connectors.

1. Yellow on FCD went to Red/White/Blue stripe-band (The ECU side of the cut PIM wire).
2. White on the FCD went to Red/White/Blue stripe-band (ECU side of the cut PIM wire).

The following two wires do not need to be cut, just tapped into.
3. Red went to Black/Yellow/Silver stripe band (The +B wire).
2. White on the FCD went to the Brown (The E1 wire).

Finally worth saying I HATE SCOTCH LOCKS!!!! bloody crap! I prefer to cut away a bit of outer insulation on the wire I want to tap into. Then wrap the wire you want to tap in around the exposed unbroken wire. Then add solder and a bit of 3M insulation tape to make a much safer/nicer connection.

Ah almost forgot. Even though mines a UK 185 the wires on the CS are the same colours (color for the yanks out there), as are the US and JDM models I looked at. They are just located in different positions in the ECU.

Will that do Kris? :)

Tally hoe,

Tone
