good morning,
has any one got any pics or any advice of where to take some piping from under passenger side front light. (there is some sort of vent openeing) to feed up into the air filter area. or from any other direction. i have turned the venturi vent round on the pass side. ( I am aware of the cons with doing that) but would like to feed some piping from somewhere without moving battery. i have two little pipes from where the oem box was. one goes down the hole on the inside of the wing and the other bit sits behind the light.( dont think they bring much cold air if any).
one piece from the front of the car sounds good like it would force some decent air.
thanks. soz for the length.

Hi,

A few people are running this type of thing (not me yet though

It's quite common to take them from the lower vents either side of the fog lights. From there you should be able to run some flexible ducting behind the battery in it's stock location

I think Sirius has this setup......

You want to use a 4 to 5 " hole cutter in the left inner wing
This will provide the route for cold feed pipe for air box,
With out a sealed air box, and cold air feed it pointless having a air box.

You could also remove the underwing resonator and stock air feed!

A little less brutal lol

Or you could do what I am planning on & do a proper rally stylie by removing the high beam units & run the ducting from there onwards.

He's talking about taking out the inner light (high bean) on his 205 and making it a channel for cold air. Much like a high power Supra drag car or something.
Someone at the JapShow finale had done this. Not sure who's car it was though.

This option isn't really open to you with a 185 :?

I have seen some cars with a small vent on the light top. Don't know if they are A: any good for this. or B: even functional vents.

  Dooooh you got a 185?? I should really pay more attention, you could always have a removable flippy light couldn’t you??

Now that I've joined I can post the pic I have found of the intake feed on my CS. I didnt create it, that was Johny. Infact, I only discovered it about 6 months after buying the car!

My CS has a shield to semi enclose the filter and AFM and the original hole from the inner wing.

Image

The reason for the bottom right image is to show relative scale as you can just see my foot at the bottom of the pipe in the upper right image.

I think there has been some metal chopping to achieve this run though, as no other 185 I have come across has a hole there to run a pipe through!

Malcolm - does the original airbox/resonator etc follow this route roughly?

I know on the 165 and the 205 routing a cold air feed is fairly straight forward as there is a hole in the inner wing to route to the stock airbox.

I dont know to be honest, I've never yet owned or even seen a GT4 with a stock airbox in either 185 or 205 flavour.

The hole in the inner wing for the stock resonator to airbox feed is utilised, but the piping from behind the air duct in the bumper up under the filter is certainly not stock fitment. If it dries up today I'll try and get some more pictures of it.

On my old uk 1990 st185 it had what looked like a stock cold air feed just behind the bumper on the passenger side:

which dissapeared into the wing.

Greg, Isnt that cold air feed going to cool the gearbox? IIRC the ST185 setup is very similar to the ST205.
