i know people have done this. what i would like to know will it aid wioth cooling the engine bay temps. or will the only thing it will do is get my engine dirtier quicker.
thnaks
is it a significant improvement or a "not worth it either way" improvement.

I think i would rather keep the engine bay clean and leave them on if there is no major gain.
thankss

The under tray has many functions.

1 helps ground effect and aero dynamics
2 keeps dirt away from engine thus, keeping cooling properties up
3 The front section allows the air to pass thought the radiator, rather than leak around, especially true with fmic set-ups.

I refitted all my under tray plastics, i run a large front mount, etc.

I concur

On the 205 the undertrays do have some specific ducting to channel cold air onto the gearbox/transfer. This could be compromised by permanent removal......

Plus, if you've ever seen pictures of the "just dragged out of a lake" engine bay you'd never ever want to leave trays off...

Most people seem to say there will be no real difference leaving these off except you'll have to clean the engine more.

Imo though the panels can have a similar effect to a slam panel at the top of the radiator. IE there is less space for air at the front to escape so it will be forced into the rads. This is a plus by my reckoning.

I used to think that this couldn't make much difference, but my firebird has an air dam under the car to route air up through the engine bay and without it the car overheats above 50mph very quickly. With it the temp is rock solid. That's just a lump of plastic too.
