Latest update following a visit yesterday.

There is only about a weeks worth of work left on the mechanical work before it goes off for the wiring loom etc. The unpainted panels will be done later as the guy who did the shell prep and paint has had to move units. This doesn't affect anything as we can crack on with the rest of the car and do the panels later.

I've post some pics of the cam and crankcase breather system on the other thread by jgtracer viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6391&p=47242#p47242 .

I'll post up some more details later such as the Aerocatch bonnet and tailgate clips (an MSA regulations related mode). I like they way they have turned out.

It's just nice to see the Lexan and Glass fitted to the car and its looking really good now. The 6mm sheet of Jabroc I bought for the splitter/undertray wear surface is visible to the right of the car. More F1 and Le Mans prototype composite technology employed ;-) (aka fancy plywood!)

So do I but they are not adjustable hence the TRD wing. I envisage later on I will replace the centre wing element with a more adjustable multi-element wing. DRS anyone? :lol:

Unlikely to be road legal. The engine is built to race tolerances so I don't really want to burn engine hours on public roads.

One of the things we had to address with the car was a means of securing the bonnet and tailgate which is compliant with the Motor Sport Association (MSA) regulations and FIA regs as well. The standard bonnet locks and tailgate locks are not by themselves acceptable.

Rally cars seem to use externally sprung toggles or simple bonnet pins neither of which are particularly attractive to look at or secure.

Many circuit racing GT cars seem to use the Aerocatch type of fastener so I decided to buy a pair to see if we could use them on the Four, I wasn't too sure because of the compound curvature on the bonnet and the depth of the tailgate. I went for the flush type initially. This does away with the need for an external mounting flange. They can be either bonded from the underside of the panel or screwed on. In our case we went for the screw option as it was simpler than bonding.

Aerocatch

Fitted this type to the RT Performance carbon tailgate. Fortunately there was enough 'height' in the pins to mount them to the tailgate aperture and still lock to the catches mounted on the tailgate.

Fitted these to the OEM aluminium bonnet. Decided to just go for the simple screw-on option. The bonnet has not yet been fully prepped and sprayed to the final finish should look better.

We are going to fit one of these on each side of the C-One nose section to secure it to the front wing. Originally it looked like we would need to get the bodyshop to fit them but on closer examination it does look like a DIY job. Care will have to be taken, particularly with the C-One GRP front nose section when cutting the slots for the catch.
