I was going to ask what the box was bolted on the wing with the screened cable / BNC plugs. Then I realised it's the header tank

I'll go back to sleep. This cold bug gets the brain.

Hi Don, absolute great car, but what is that blue thing on the alternator next to the throttle cable? fire extinguishers ? greetz
Correct! the extinguisher kit came with six discharge nozzles, four for the engine bay and two for the cockpit. It also has an internal and an external electrical firing switch which will be wired in as part of this work.

Hi Don.

Lovely write up, great project given me a fair bit of something to read.

Re your windscreen. XYG never were the best, who fitted it for you? I bet they bought it from MasterAutoglass. I fitted a Securit one in my car and that too had a really blue hue to it, it was quite bad in the sun from certain angles, might be worth a check whilst it still has the stickers on for return if needed.

Top work, keep it up.

Ian

The lexan side and rear windows still have the blue protective 'cling film' so the pics of the car outside make it look like the XYG screen has a blue tint. I've not noticed a hue on the glass yet and even if it has I'm not too bothered TBH as it's a track car. I have had great difficulty finding a replacement windscreen of decent quality for my road cary. They all seem to have a dusty pink hue :(

We were hoping to get the weight under 1100kgs but somewhere arounx that figure would do fine. Power will be approx. 450-500bhp. More interested in getting the handling right. That's where the lap time will come from although the power delivery will play a part in that.

Even with all the modifications you have, it looks like the car is gonna be heavy at the front still..
Though less modified than yours and a lot heavier - understeer is really killing me in circuit racing.

Seems that all the top cars - milners and Adrian have the advantage of nice front and rear LSD . Plus Milner has modified his front struts higher

Do you have any idea on how your gonna overcome understeer if it occurs.

I run McPherson aswell , 2.5 degree camber it helps a little.
Next I think a rear cusco diff may help a little maybe a mz 1.5way
Richard ( we met briefly at Surrey rr, I had the black track car)

More caster and bump steer reduction makes a big difference to understeer.

TBH evos and scoobies all suffer from understeer they just have better chassis electronics to help them.

Weight distribution is still not ideal but don't forget I've converted to McPherson struts at the front which gives me loads of options to choose from. I have Ohlins dampers and spring rates chosen to optimise handling plus an adjustable ARB which is much beefier than the stock item. Tyres make a huge difference too. I am on Dunlop S2000 BTCC slicks. I am not expecting to have too many issues with understeer

Dry sump spec is finalised. I don't yet have a pic of it assembled on the engine but the drive pulley has been changed so the pump runs at a slower speed initially. If it runs too fast there is a risk of the pump cavitating and also creating low pressure in the crankcase resulting in lack of lubrication in the upper cylinder. The plan is to observe how the system is performing during the initial running and then adjust as necessary.

Hello Don!
In your setup original oil pump is removed? What kind of timing belt is used (it have to be shorter).
Thanks
