I have a JDM ST185.

I'm going to be putting her back together soon hopefully as my radiator should be here Monday.

I want to fit a front mount but the big bumper iron is in the way is it worth cutting it or just lose it?

all those plastic under shields keep em or lose em?

i also need a timing belt and water pump so MR T or Non Genuine. Performance options whats avalible?

How does the speedo drive in this model electric or cable?

this is from my 165, but equally relates to the 185
http://andrewmcc.com/fmic/

check out the pics in there, i made a ally support for the bumper - similar concept to the CS item just not quite as professional :)

no need for a different pulley, you can just slip on a shorter belt from halfords, part number BF975
http://andrewmcc.com/bf975fbelt.jpg

keep the plastic undershields, they will keep all manner of crap out of your engine bay!
i have cut mine slightly to allow room for the fmic pipes to pass through, which is about a 10 minute job with a junior hacksaw :)

one thing to note: the position i have mounted my fmic in, necessated the removal of the bonnet release catch and the entire centre bar. i fitted bonnet pins and moved the horns to the slam panel. this wasnt a problem for me as i live in a very low crime area (ie a field) and never take it to places where it will be left unattended.

thanks andy,

i was wondering about the bonnet latch brace.

is it not possible to drop the cooler more forward or maybe down to allow the catch to stay?

i was looking in the region of a 600x300x76-100mm unit what size did you fit?

I would not remove or cut the bumper bar - this is the primary piece of crash protection at the front of the car.

Maybe look at fitting the bar from the CS which is smaller.

so how big is the CS one?

the standard one is like 4 or 5" square. i realise it's purpose and didn't really want to remove it for that reason.

but the damb thing is in the way big time.
the cs one is just a 1-1.5" tube bar is it not?

maybe i could make one i wasn't planning on bumping into stuff but then you cant always allow for others on the road.

id rather not have an intercooler as my only crash pad LOL
