Good call by emicen

We have the luxury of a spare set of alloys and the handling is better with the 18's vs 17's, but the road holding is bloody dire with the tyres that are on there, but that's another story!

I was running OZ Super T 18's with nangkang's, I am now running OZ Super T 17's with Toyo proxies.

Love the toyo's 8) (although I haven't really had the opportunity to do some real 'testing' of them!) but miss the 18's . . turn in was brilliant, and they really filled the wheel arch.

However the 17's are mint, where as the 18s are badly kerbed - so overall the 17's are winning overall from a tyres and asthetic point of view :)

Some people are like a Slinky .. Not really good for anything, but they make you smile when you shove them down the stairs!

I too want a set of white Compo MO's.
17's for deffinate though.....I will probably upgrade shocks too to KYB's and eibach 30/35mm springs.

Why do people run 215/40/17's?
Stock is 215/55/15 (or is it 215/50/15?) on my CS.

According to the miata tyre calculator the best fit is 225/40/17 (based on stock size 215/55/15).

So would this be better or is there reason for going 215/40/17?

Thanks

Steve

My mistake as per above.....I know now that my stock tyre is 215/50/15.
The miata tyre calculator shows 205/40/17 as en exact rolling circumference match. While 215/40/17 would be only 0.8 mph out at 60mph...eg. 60.8 mph.

Whic isze would offer best all round traction. 205/40/17 or 215/40/17? I'm thinking the latter but I have seen many people choose the first choice.....

Ta
