my new 17"s give a more bumpy ride than my 16's. Saying that I've only done approx 5 miles on them so far :) Found out two of the wheels I just had powder coated are slightly buckled though :( Which is some thing to consider with 17+ rims. The bigger they are, the easier they are to bend :(

my 16's were Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D2's. Great tyres but krap rim protector imho 215 45 16's and my 17s are Toyo Proxie T1-R's 215 40 17's... the "5"dont half make a difference to the ride quality :? But looks the dogs sitting on 17's

a 215 tyre on an 8 inch rim is too narrow in my opinion. The tyre looks like it is stretched across the alloy, rather than sitting on it

For 8" I'd probably fit either 225 or 235 rubber

Speaking from experience eh Kris :?: ........I agree though, you really need 235's on an 8" rim.

Indeed, I run 215/40/17 on an 8" rim and whilst have had no problems they defintely look stretched onto the rim. Visually 235/40/17 looks ideal. maybe 225/45/17 for a ST205 woudl be worth considering too?
