1) Will it work ok with no other mods?
2) Will I actually notice any difference?

1 - probably. Just need to check the oil and water lines match up ok - I'be be 95% sure they do

2. Yes the compressor is larger than the 185 jobbie :)

I have fitted a Ct20 to my st205 - I can only report it fits and works. The car has not been used in anger sinc ethe swap (not gone past 2900rpm or 0.3 bar boost! prior to being parked up again)

The CT20 is a perfect size turbo for the ST185 on stock injectors. Low down spool and upto 320bhp.
