I have been out today to try setting up the levels on my EBC. I just wanted to see if people agree (in general) with the levels I am seeing.

I have only done the low setting at the moment, which I want to be 0.85bar.
I set the boost at 30% (trial and error) and it was hitting roughly the boost I wanted.
So I started to up the gain (Manual says keep going up until you see spikes then take it back til it just stops spiking) The boost setting had to come back down to 28% over the course of this.
I got all the way tp 35% (the highest it'll go to) without seeing any spikes.
I have now started to increase the start boost but haven't finished cos the bypass I was using started to get busy and I came home.

So on to the main question: When people talk about boost spiking are they talking about huge jumps or about fluctuations of about 0.3bar each way (mine is doing that at certain revs)? Or am I just not seeing any spikes because I'm only going for 0.85bar and when I set up the high setting (1.15bar) it'll be more of an issue?

erghh Paul,
Do you mean fluctuations of 0.03 bar?
0.3 bar is wild fluctuation.

Boost spiking is where you have the boost increase significantly over the target level at a particular region - in thsi case it will be when you are coming onto boost - a high gain will provide a higher boost spike as it comes on boost.

Sorry  I did mean 0.03

I am not getting any big changes in boost. But having checked again the car does seem to pull at 0.78bar through most of the range but then the peak hold flashes up 0.85 or so. I guess this could be a small spike.

I'll have to pay more attention next time I go and play.

Oh, and I am getting full boost from about 2900rpm. That's about right isn't it?

On my Profec E-01 I had similar duty settings

IIRC 40ish would get me about stock .9 bar and 55 ish would get me 1.1 bar

Gain was set to something like 5 as I don't want an aggressive boost curve for track work. The sudden hit of torque when you nail it out of a corner can unsettle the car. So mine builds quite slowly ofer a couple of seconds

Never, ever, ever spiked though lol
