Hi.

Well at last i have got round to sorting some bits out, even got the pictures organized this time, as apposed to storing them, never to be found again.

Hopefully this will be of interest to some, looking for a cheaper route to improve handling.

The unit shown is a rear, it has not ARB bracket as I have opted for a different set-up for connection layout.

Can use stock bracket if required.

looks damn good Jon. I assume you have used the stock casings for the mountings? In which case I also assume this arrangement would suit a ST205? Similar to the D2power setup? Provided stock struts are supplied to you.

Looks good so far Jon, would be even better to see some bigger pics :)

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the different ARB setup.

A few more pictures.

Front and rear converted struts, using KYB 4 way adjustable as shown.

My original plans were to use the koni 30 way adjustable, but after being let down, went for the kyb , stock available, next day delivery, 4 for the price of 2 koni's.

For the rear struts to be used, with replaceable adjustable inserts, the tube length needs to be increases a little, as well as having a thread cut into the tube extension.

I have seen some people using spare front struts, and cutting off the top threaded section, this seems ok, but the tube thickness next to the thread is very thin, this will cause a weak spot.

So I opted for a custom tube extension, with over lap for join, this vastly increase's the strength.

I have started work on the 205 super strut, the same upgrade will be avalible very shortly, for both front and rear units.

Hi Steve.

no worries, the 1 you supplied has been converted into a setting up template., could be used, but its handy having a templete.

The ball joint took some getting out, as it had been mushroomed over, a real nightmare that was.

do you have any more. would be good to get some testing time on the super strutt layout.

cheers
jon

Hi sorry for the delay

Have started work on the rear arm set-up, will be testing 185 shortly, the set up will be the same for the 205, fully adjustable rear arms, part rose jointed, part poly where applicable.

Will start on the front lower arm, making the chassis side into a rose joint with left and right threaded adjusters, the 205 is tricky compared to the 185 wishbone.

Machining does start to add up, especially when destroying 80 quid mill bit in the process, only 1 failure to date.

Is that super strut off yours damage free, I checked the tube for kinks etc, all seems fine, however when turning it down, I had .5 mm whip on it, this made boring it out, not easy, clocked in ok next to chuck, but close to the strut arm, was out only a little.

Will get back onto yours stuff shortly, my heap has taken up quite a lot of my spare time, having to go though every part, sand blast, paint, rebuilding it all, just the rear diff and cradle left to do.

Getting the practice in, for the red wide body project this will be my 1st race spec gt4 build and it’s for me. :D

Can any one CAD,& or model works, this would save me some time, could arrange for a trade, this would be off use for some bolt on upgrades at cost price.

Have access to a 3-axis mill so why not make use of it.

Wish it was mine, I only have 2 axis, with power drive, limited program settings for stops, have to change bits, re clock etc, Very very old school. idea for prototyping one off’s, but then drawing my paper work up onto disc, takes further time that’s gets left unfinished.
