that's very good, what radiator core was it?

I'm running a Koyo aluminium radiator with standard cap, TRD thermostat and SAMCO hoses.
The figures are particularly impressive considering I have a close-ratio gearbox.

I should point out that the Toyota Sprint Series round/track is only a short circuit (more like a go-kart circuit) and it's one timed lap.
I would expect temperatures to be higher if circuit racing.

You might be pleasantly surprised with the oil and water temperatures on track compared to TSS. I was short-shifting (until my last run) at Woodbridge to keep the revs down and try and keep the engine oil and water from overheating. This strategy seemed to work reasonably well too.

I should perhaps mention I am a bit paranoid after the incident at Silverstone a few years back when my rad blew almost all of the coolant out when braking into Copse at the end of the pit straight  My cooling system then was standard apart from a TRD thermostat.

With the ratios in the C-One 'box and the free-revving nature of your engine it would put the oil and water cooling systems under quite a lot of strain on the sprint track layouts. On a circuit with longer straights this give the engine a chance to cool down as the radiator core will transfer heat much more efficiently due to the higher airspeed.

Hi,

folks, after running the engine under boost please hold some revs, the turbo works very hard and need oil pressure (2500-3500rpm)!
drive the car to cool down!
i drive with around 3000rpm some time and then i turn off, i use my turbo timer only to show the voltage any more
i also should say that when i drive down a hill with no throttle and high rpm it also cool down extremely, thanks to the pipe

Great to see some DIY modifications :)

The Koyo radiator is recommended and certainly provides increased cooling vs the stock 205 radiator

i love to build parts by myself even it looks not so good on the picture, this was after the welding, 1mm is terrible to weld
today i arranged and sprayed it, and will fit it at night :)
i hope it make a difference but i think i can't feel it

Hi,

and finished

Image

Image

my first impression:
i belived that it will make no difference, but i can cool down the engine faster to 70°C and after i pass a city-sign the themp. needle is lower until i stop one time
i can make a concrete feedback after more test-drives if you wish :)

i also bought a set of used C-One mudflaps as they where cheap, plug&play and anyway not long time new :D

Image

Image

the red looks cool, but they are a bit hardcore
i will let them on the car some days and hope that i can attune, if not i will change them for any event

Hi,

Image

Image

nobody want the under-panel and i decided to mount it today
i have to cut out the 3"exhaust and also the OEM plastic in the area around the airscoop, so that air can escape

it looks like that the airscoop works as it feels that the engine cool down a bit faster, but it was only a short drive and i can't say it accurate enought

today i saw that the OEM fans are very bad for the airflow through the radiator package (back-pressure behind the engine water radiator -> less air can flow)
, i will change them anytime :)

Alex, its always a good idea to try and duct the airflow from the front intake directly through the radiator core. All WRC cars are designed that way with Kevlar/Carbon ducting around the rad cores and fans. If it works for WRC then its good enough for me! Aluminium sheet will do the job and is cheaper and easier than carbon ;) Some competition cars also raise the rear of the bonnet by ~5-10mm so that the hot air can escape more easily.

Hi Don,

damn right, the tip came from my old TTE friend :)

very important -> the area where the bonnet ends is a area with over pressure, don't lift the bonnet as air will flow in the engine bay, this raise the pressure in the engine bay and less air can flow trought the radiator package!!!

i have a link with many informations for you, but it is in german
http://www.gtfour.ch/info/faq.php?id=in ... =faq&type=
hope you can translate it
