Looks lovely inthe flesh

But has a JDM spec manual and the Blitz NA sire is down :(

Doesn't look like it will measure quite as many additional sensors as originally thought though. Looks like it will do one external pressure and one external temperature

So looks like the Defi will be staying. Sorry vultures LOL

More pics when I figure out what wires go where.........

Good news Steve, thought you were getting worried for a minute there!

So can you tell from the Jap manual and/or the wires what inputs it can read? Sometimes they can take multiple inputs and you just switch or cycle between them.

I'll take some pics of the MXL to trade for you i-Colour pics

Apparently, and rather unusually LOL, I hay have been wrong

Out of the boxit can display two AUX signals (labelled TEMP and PRESS/AF

However, there is a whole other connector I hadn't even noticed which has 3 additional DATA inputs

As Don said I don't have a great deal of extra info yet. It seems the manual is not yet available in English

It does have the ability to display 5 channels of external sensor data. However, I have to say that having lived with it for a little while I'm not entirely sure I'd be happy using them as sole engine monitoring inputs

The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, I'd have to buy a whole raft of Blitz sensors. Not a biggie as to implement the master plan I'll probably end up doing just this anyway

Worst of all is the display aspect. The display has three options - analog gauge, 2 line digital or 6 line digital
The analog gauge also has the option to display a further two parameters in numbers but they are very small

I tend to run in either 2 line digital or gauge mode showing boost and (depending on activity at the time) rpm (track) or speed (road)
But the smaller digital displays are hard to make out without a second or two or examination. This works fine on the road for speed but will not work on track to examine mission critical engine parameters.
Also, the level alarm is not the best. I want something which goes off in true claxon style which the Blitz will not do. It has a little internal beeper which has (suprisingly) turned out to be just audible on track but it's no AROOGHA, AROOGHA which I would want in the heat of battle

So I have a new plan. I will use this to monitor "less important" parameters. Things like c/cooler water temp (while it remains LOL), possibly main coolant water pressure, diff temp etc. All of which I consider to be less critical

I will then use the Defi setup for Water temp, Oil temp, Oil Press, Fuel Press, EGT and boost (overboost warn only). So I'll end up with all the mission critical stuff on the Defi with it's clear, legible display and warnings and the Blitz for other oddities

In terms of EBC performance I think the SBC is pretty good. Boost control in auto mode is superb with no spiking and a pretty consistant (+-0.05 bar) hold
The only limitation I see (compared to the previous Greddy E-01) is that speed/rpm variable boost is a little less flexible. I think I have detailed this somewhere already but in a nutshell

The Greddy had two boost channels (Hi/Lo) For each channel there was a compensation table to alter duty (+ or -) every 500rpm
The Blitz doesn't do this. It has 4 boost channels. The rpm boost control works by selecting one of the 4 available channels for given rpm increments. So it's far less adjustable than the greddy but I guess still far mode adjustable than many other controllers.......

Thanks for the info Steve.

What Defi setup have you got? I need to invest in some monitoring kit that will do the AROOGHA alarm style whilst also telling me useful stuff that is happening e.g. Oil temp, pressure and maybe water temps

I have a couple of GReddy gauges with the inbuild level control which have the ability to activate an external relay...klaxxon here we come!

I may just invest in some more gauges with the inbuild warning level, I have yet to make that decision

I've got the nattly little Defi Display thing Kris

You get a choice of 2 parameters to display (currently oil temp and press) and when it alarms it will replace one of these displays with the offending out of range parameter

Makes for a nice tidy install without gauges everywhere

Sounds like a neat gizmo - have you got any more info e.g. link? Can you set any limit for the high/low alarm?

When it alarms, is it ball bouncingly loud, or just a "peep peep"?

Piccies of the Display unit can be found here

You can only set relevant single ended alarms, not high and low

So you get low pressure and high temp alarms. Not ideal but sufficient for my purposes

When you get an alarm basically it will reverse text the offending parameter on the display so it's quite obvious. You do also get a beeper although on mine it's a little subdued as it comes out of the control unit box and I've got mine mounted in the centre console bin thing :(

Still quite audible though and there's also the option of a shift light style warning lamp which could be mounted somewhere obvious

Personally I don't think I will bother. Where the display is mounted (on top of the console, just behind and to the left of the windscreen corner duct, you've seen and commented on it before LOL) it's pretty much in line of sight and so far I have never failed to see the alarm condition (to date always temp > 125 on track).

With a little thought I'm sure the Titanic klaxon could be fitted though LOL
