After the first outing on track with a helmet on it appears I have soem clearance issues. With the drivers seat all the way lowered and the seat reclined a fair bit further than my normal stance (which is quite reclined anyway) I managed to squeeze myself in and have my head up straight but it was in hard contact with the headlining of the car.

I know I have had this problem with passenger rides in Dons car (but he has recaros) and Mikes (passenger seat doesnt lower in height) but it amazed me how much of a squeeze it was.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to avoid this? maybe Loosey's seat and frame are mounted lower than the recaros? Maybe you can buy thin walled helmets?

I have a 'lowered' drivers side seat if you are interested. Its a stock seat but I sit lower in it than I do in the Recaro. You're welcome to try it as its just taking up space in my garage at the moment.

I am 5'10" in old money but didn't think you were of superhuman physique compared to the rest of us

heh, how the hell do you lower a standard seat? Have you had to modify your recaro/bride combination? How much did you get the seat lowered by?

I think I am an odd ball shape as my legs are short and body long.

JP, the seats probably just settled in due to my ponderous bulk

BTW, do you realise the classic Italian racing driver shape is long body, short legs so you're in good company......shame no Italian has won the F1 title in recent years :P

JP, Please feel free to come armed with a helmet and try my seat for size . . . I think it is lower, but then I am stumpy anyway  so my opinion doesn't count.

I **think** you just get used to these things too

First timme I got in mine with a helmet and stock seats I was rammed hard against the roof!

Second time, with the recaros it felt similar, perhaps a little better

Didn't even cross my mind on Saturday
