Hi Mook

Have you thought about changing your front engine mount?

Front and rear mounts were changed to heavy duty TRD ones not that long ago (I think), what triggered the question, does it look dodgy?

Hi mook

They don't look that new,
but hey...what do I know!
Do you get any vibrations from TRD engine mounts?

What bore is your exhaust?
Do you have much silencing in the back box?

Hmmm, I'm thinking again about the engine mounts and I'm now not sure if they are uprated or not :? I'll have to check back through my various invoices!

The exhaust is 3" all the way through, custom made in stainless by JDModified in Basingstoke (Formerly Toyota GT). The backbox was purchased from the US, quite a task finding one with 3" inlet, 4" slash cut titanium outlet and carbon can - only found one but the company wouldn't deliver outside the US, had a guy on CCUK get his girlfriend to purchase it on my behalf then send it over, very kind of them to assist.

Had one or two knocks initially, and managed to catch the propshaft on full chat a couple of times, but that's now been remedied - the flange between flexi and downpipe was quite large and was catching on the anti-roll bar on one side and the prop on the other, they've now been trimmed back. Was also touching over the rear subframe and that's been adjusted too. Very pleased with it.

The backbox is reasonably large, for the type it is at least, about 7" diameter, and it's got the largest silencer in the midsection that we could fit. Not too loud though quite a burble on tick over, quietens down between 2k and 3.5k then gets beefy again above that - perfect for keeping noise levels down on the motorway yet still plenty to listen to when you're playing :)

Great picture of the front flexi section - shows just how tight it is to get a 3" exhaust through there!

My boy could only manage to get 2.5" in there!

It was tight alright, it was very time consuming getting a good fit, its not easiest of exhaust to make.

Right, got the last of the old livery off now, Rufus is looking somewhat naked! Here's the latest on the ideas front - amended the side design slightly by merging the text and circles better and have thought on the bonnet/roof/tailgate. The text towards the rear of the sides will wrap round the boot :)

Do you think it'll help me get a magazine feature?

Okay, next part's arrived! My carbon CS bonnet from RT-Performance. Must say, I'm pretty chuffed with first impressions, the finish is nice and it's a proper CS copy at last :D It's a complete replica bonnet consisting of carbon outer skin and fibre glass under skin/frame, mounting point included, OE bonnet catch mechanism in place, even complete with mesh throughout! The centre vent is a seperate moulding, like the original, which is good, though the smaller vents towards the rear have been moulded into the main panel, which is fine.

Weighs in at a smidge over 11kgs, but keep in mind it's got the proper framework and everything so shouldn't need bonnet pins if we're lucky. Managed to remove the OE bonnet on my own, via use of a yard brush and old double duvet *lol*. Popped that on the scales and it tipped them at just over 21kgs so we're practically half the weight, and of course looking smart ;)

Have rested the new one in place for a mock up, fit looks to be tip top. Just cleaning up some bits and bobs that are normally tricky to reach then will get it on properly. Here's some teaser pics -

You swept the stock bonnet into a duvet? Hope you left the underbonnet insulation on it or you'll be cold tonight

Looks good Mook :D RTP parts all seem to be great quality. Are you going to leave it unpainted (I assume it has UV inhibitor)

As a matter of interest if the RTP carbon bonnet weighs 11kg how does that compare with the OEM bonnet weight?

Don,
Mook indicated he weighed the std bonnet at 21KG (RC bonnet). I believe the RC bonnet is aluminium like the ST205 and hence significantly lighter than the std ST185.

RC bonnet is steel but is something like 8kg lighter than the ATA one

I weighed my ST205 aluminium bonnet at 11.2kg so it looks as though the RTP ST185 carbon bonnet is pretty much the same weight if its just a little ove 11kgs. I guess the RTP ST205 carbon bonnet would weigh pretty much the same.

Looks pretty good Mook.

Not a big fan of the new decals tbh.
