Hi,

i'am using the CP too for the same reason and one further, it was easily possible to custom built them to 86,25mm bore and 9:1, the price was the same iirc i just had to wait a few weeks
the second reason was that i want rods and pistons from the same manufacturer -> CP / Carillo

so shiny when they are new

I use Ross pistons. Any opinions on these? I notice a bit slap on cold start but can't comment on anything else as I only use it up to to 1.2 bar about 0.1% of the time..

Ross in my opinion is very old technology in terms of pistons. Last time i checked there clearances were around 0.0060" which accounts for them being noisy.

I'm only running 0.0040" clearance, which was what nibbles and I decided on as i'm only running 1.2 bar and everything else stock. A torque plate was used..
(at least that's what I remember, nibbles may want to confirm)

well alot of the specified clearances are set because of the material spec used and the skirt design, thickness, shape etc etc.

You can change the clearance of them a little but don't think just because it might be made of the same material as say a JE you can then run the same clearance values.

True, we did quite a bit of research and found many application of Ross pistons with 0.0040 clearance. Ross even changed the 0.0060 clearance spec down to 0.0050 which might suggest they were initially a bit conservative. Going from 0.0050 spec clearance down to 0.0040 seems to work. Time will tell.

maybe they did a bit of a redesign to come more inlines of the new range of pistons being produced by other companies. Even 0.0040" is conservative for some pistons on the market.

i once did a couple sets of custom CP for testing that were 0.0012"
