I'd love to be included in this.
Hope I'm not too late.

Jeff, I think they are still prototyping the diff. Nobody has asked for money yet so you're not too late.

I'll add you to the list. They are still taking measurements last I heard.

Just a small update, they are still working on this project:

just a quick update. Our engineer is still going through the design of the oem unit and deciding how, if we were to make an LSD, to go about it. It is an extremely difficult/awkward design that requires different tooling from what we currently have. I'll keep you updated.

Thanks,

Stephen

Good to get some feedback :) ....I wonder if it might be easier from them to do a plate type diff like the now discontinued TRD front LSD?

Bad news guys.

Hey Austin,

please accept my apologies for the delay. I've spent the past few days re-discussing with our engineer about the viability of this project and, as much as I would like it to proceed, unfortunately, even with the overwhelming interest shown on the forum, we would still be well under the min. quantity required just for us to break even on the tooling costs that we would need to invest in. Just so you have an idea, several different custom tooling is required, with each tooling costing upwards of 5 figures.

Thanks for sharing. All may not be lost. You might have seen my other post following a visit to the Race Retro Historic Motorsport show. I spoke with the guys on the Gripper diffs stand. They do a plate type LSD rear diff for the Celica and Supra. They said if I can get a casing to them they would be able to measure up and see if their LSD clutch pack would fit. If it does, then this would keep the cost down as all they would have to fabricate are the output shafts. I have a partly dismantled ST205 gearbox/transaxle so will pull the guts out and get it up to them in the next few weeks.

Good to know. I am also going ahead and contacting quaife as well as TTA to see what all our options are. I need to dig up my old communications with Toyota Team Australia to see if they still can get the clutch type for the front.

Well I found his email and sent him a request. For a single front clutch type was 6,000 au. Maybe with 30 orders we can get the price down a bit.

And here is his response.

Quote:
Hello Josh

Yes we can still manufacture the front differentials, the cost for 1 = $7250, 3 = $7000, from 10 up $6750, the front diffs in GT4’s have 2 hemisphere’s which have to be made (it’s about space and reliability) this is why the cost is what it is.

Thanks

Regards Darryl

I am talking to quaife now. I am trying to get someone on the alltrac boards to help organize this as I have been really busy.
