Sunny, Interesting link, I didn't know about that option for LSD's.

Josh, The TTA Australian front LSD option sounds pretty expensive compared to the Gripper or even the Cusco/Kaaz rear LSD's although if it comes already built into a casing then that would partly explain the difference. I would be a bit wary about Quaife. They have a reputation for selling vapourware and getting customers to do the R&D. Could be a world of pain we don't need!

From what I understand the front diffs for these cars require special tooling to be made, which is the reason for the high cost. The same reason we can not get MFactory to make it. This is something TTA told me years ago. I wish we could get fensport to get something made. They are using the rare TRD front lsd in their 7th gen awd celica.

Logically if we could use the now discontinued TRD front diff as a pattern this would fit the standard gearbox/transaxle casing. Just need to find an old worn out TRD diff now!

Speaking of the trd front diff I sent an email to fensport last night. I told them we had 30 people interested in these front LSDs. They said they will contact TRD about getting them made again. I do not know what they expect to charge, but I will keep everyone posted. I have a contact at TRD I am also going to inquire with.

Adrian has good contacts at TRD Japan although whether this extends to getting stuff made will be interesting!

From memory I think the trd was a 1.5 clutch type lsd.
I am assuming the preload is adjustable which is wy they are doing so well on the track with it.
Any idea if the caldina shares the same front diff? Maybe we can expand this group buy.

We have someone getting a diff out to quaife. They said they will need 30 people and the price is expected to be around 950usd. No confirmation yet but it's in the works. I assume everyone here is still on board.

I have not heard back from gen sport yet so that is still up in the air. I was told it could be torsen and it could be clutch type. We have a better idea once they get it.

And anyone else who was interested, they are wanting to know if you are still in for the quaife unit?
We are trying to make sure we get to 30 so this does not fall through.
If you have any questions, need to be added to the list etc.. you can email the guy who is running this group buy.
wood_allen@msn.com

If you want you can PM me, or reply to this thread and I can add you back to the list over on the main groupbuy thread. Also if anyone is over on gt4oc, could you share this there?

I think they are trying to gather all the info as soon as they can, but I imagine we have a couple of week for people to think about it. They should be getting the diff end of the week or so.

X-trac stuff will cost a lot of money. Last time I spoke to someone about used xtrac equipment they told me it would cover over 30,000usd and I should buy two gearboxes. One to fix while driving with the other. The setup requires new hubs, axles, transmission and more.
There are a couple other options as well, but they all go in into the 40-50,000$ range.
