yes it's THAT topic again.
Now I know all I need to know from what's already been posted but what I don't understand is:
"what's so great about the crossy pipe work route?" Am I the only one thinking it's a bit too long to run it from the throttle to the wing and back out again?
I have an evo core and was thinking of clocking the turbo, then from turbo to core passenger side (opposite to the crossy one) then from passenger outlet round and straight up next to the alternator then straight to the throttle.
IMO it's a much shorter route and yes I know it'll be very close the the turbo hot side but lagging is a minor job and the air passes through so quick surely it won't make a difference?
Oh yes I forgot. I have the drivers side high beam out too so it's an extra cooling inlet.

What are your opinions on this pipe work route?

IMHO the main problem is heat soak (not an issue when the car is moving and you have airflow constantly but it will heat up the pipes.

IMHO and having had a look at the calcs a long length of pipe will have an effect on lag (minimal IMHO) but little effect on increasing pressure drop.

A short length of pipe may run a more difficult route and use more/sharper bends and pressure drop will increase.

I see. So aside from the heat soak which IMO isn't a lot as the pipe runs down where the alternator snorkel is and that's a good few inches from the down pipe.

in my own personal opinion with the ct20b i have had no problems running it through the wings to a forge core.

lag is more than the cc but that is to be expected, with my current setup i get 1.2bar boost from around 3600rpm which isnt too bad i dont think

and another angle...

Turbo is clocked and the only part exposed to temp is the bit that crosses the rocker cover, we've wrapped it in exhaust wrap for now but aluminium reflective sheeting/shielding would probably have been better.

Here are some ideas taken from the Fensport cars:

Fensport GT4X

This is the kit that I have:
http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1745 but I will be clocking the turbo.
