It will become even better. Bought a set of Recaro seats and plan to buy Takata belts and get a rollcage fabricated.

Picked up the seats from the upholsterer today. A part of the center section needed new cloth and the outer cushions had to be repaired with new foam inserts:

The cloth was taken from the rear seats of the donor car, a JDM ST205. The small parts in front of the seats are made to fit the door panels.

Finally received the rails to fit in the seats. Freshly imported from Japan:

Also ordered a rear rollcage, but it will be made and delivered in july. Comes from Safety Devices in UK.

Good result, I thought Bride had stopped making the rails. The Recaro's are great seats, very comfortable and supportive. Does fitting the cage mean you are planning competition or just doing track days?

The rails were made on order. Took some weeks till they were made, but it wasn´t a problem to order them. I think they just don´t stock them anymore.

Just wanted a clean solution to fix the planed four point harnesses ( Takata Race 4 Bolt http://www.sandtler24.de/takata/renngur ... 875gr.html ) and a bit more safety. I use my CS for touristic driving on the Nürburgring ( I life only 170 km from the Ring ) and trackdays, so I don´t do competitions. That´s why and because of my height ( 1,92 m ) I choose only a rear cage. A full cage would cost too much space in the car.

Finally found the time to replace the seats. Still need to replace the cloth of the passenger side doorcard and I will have to mod the seat rails to get the seats more to the rear, but they´re in:

Recaro's in Le Mans trim ... the only seats to have

You planning on getting the Takata belts soon? There are a few fakes around so you have to be careful before you buy.

I will buy the Takatas in july when the cage arrives. I know the risks to buy fake Takatas but I will buy the Race 4 Bolt Takatas and the reblica ones are copys of the classic Takatas so it's easy to get geniue ones.

I prefer the Race 4 Bolt as they have bolt on ends instead of the snap on ends. They are produced by Schroth here in Germany, a safety belt producer with a long tradition that was bought by Takata some years ago.

I have ordered a rear cage from Safety Devices. It's a bolt in with weld in base plates. Didn't want a full cage as a full cage will take too much space. They only make it on order, so it will take until july till it arrives.

Modified the Bride seat rails today as I was too big to find a good seating position.

Made adapters to mount the seats more to the rear. Fabricated from 10x40 mm mild steel. All made by myself.

The rails without the extensions:

The rails with the extensions:

The extensions bolted to the seat:

The effect:

Both seats are slided fully backwards. The seat is moved 13,5 cm more to the back with the extensions.

My Celica thought it would be time for me to work on her again, so she decided to burn the chargecooler waterpump.

The short circuit burned parts of the loom too as the mate who made the loom modifications for the ST205 engine didn´t use a fuse for the pump´s power wire. Happend some weeks ago and I only had the loom repaired since than.

Wasn´t sure which pump I´ll use to replace the burned one ( which was rebuilded one I put in in 2013 X( ) and thought about some options. In the end I bought a electrical water pump that was made to replace the mechanical water pump of the engine of race cars. The pump is from Craig Davies, a company from Australia. It makes 80 liter per minute, so a additional benefit should be a more efficent charge cooling.

The pump is very slim, but got big connections so I needed adapter hoses I luckily found on eBay.

Today I fitted the pump, started with unpacking the parts and remove the burned pump:

Image

Needed some time of brainstorming to find the right position for the pump and making a custom bracket for the pump:

Image

Only needed to replace the power connector by the one from the burned pump and bolt the pump into it´s new place:

Image

The underside cover fits barely and I´ll have to think about it to cut it out if the pump makes too much noise as the cover touching the pump, but I´ll decide this after a test drive I didn´t done.

Next step will be the rear cage. It was shipped yesterday.
