Sorry to hear that Dan.

A few rebuilds going on at the moment on here, ask around if you want any ideas.

Could be turning the wick up too much on an old engine, or could be the result of a long motorway run plus lake district roads with a failing fuel pump relay.

IMO whip the head off & inspect & measure bores. if ok then a quick hone +

Knowing that the car does autotests & track days I think going forged is worthwhile.

Cheers guys, I probably will go forged.

The option of a downgrade to a 1.1L or a horse still exists though :) lol

I don't have a horse yet, and the four is still on the drive lol.

I guess I've decided to go forged, just getting an idea of what's what at the moment. Will be aiming for same power, supporting modifications as current build.

Not sure if I can fund getting Martin Kingston or Jay @ Millway to do the build rather than getting Chris to babysit me through said project lol :)
Either way I think it's off the road for a good couple of month.

Following a chat with Steve the other night, I agree it would be better to go for a rebore and next size up pistons rather than re-using worn bores. Does mean a full engine out job.

Well, first of 2 payments made for a forged engine being put together by Tim at TB developments.

Spec wise it will be very similar to Ferdy's, in fact it will be his old engine so if it goes wrong I'll be at Ferdy's door lol :P
The engine should be ready early September.

Custom CP pistons 86.25mm (apparently they are only slightly off the expansion of the low expansion Wossner ones, however are made of a harder material), few ARP bolts, keeping standard rods, valve springs and cams. So should be good for up to 380ish.

As Tim pointed out unless I can see myself upping the turbo and fuelling in the future for over 400 there’s not much point going for upgraded rods, springs etc.

As with Ferdy, my goals are reliability, I may ask at the next mapping session to see if the standard turbo has a bit more then 346bhp though lol :)
