Looks like a good bit of fabrication Phil.

If you want data on the battery:

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/lead-acid ... s/1988125/

p.s. - for buying use a customer of mine:

http://www.budgetbatteries.co.uk/22033/ ... d-battery/

or a good supplier (their own brand is very good):

Thanks, so do you think the battery spec means it is up to the Job?

The term is meaningless and confusing. It has no place here. :D

The battery tray is very nice however. :D

Well, thanks for the compliment on the battery tray :D

I am still not sure about the battery choice but it is working so far, touch wood.

Winter starting may be a different thing altogether using a golf trolley battery?

I've been using a 60AH cyclic gel battery in the pug for over 2 years, and it was secondhand/end of life when it went in. Also had a 20AH gel battery in the 185 since before the Swiss trip in 2009 without problem, but to be fair it hasn't been on the road much.

Biggest danger is overcharging as alternator output current is very high relative to battery capacity, might be a problem if you regularly run the battery down a long way.

There is room for an 063 battery mounted where the air filter used to be if you can make your own tray. I used to make a tray to sell as part of the FMIC kit but that was a long time ago ;-)
