So after my mapping sesh the other week, I was told that I should try and lower under bonnet and air intake temperatures.
After seeing phils homemade air box I gave it ago today along with heat wrapping all the intercooler piping in the main heatsoak areas.
All pipes were primnanly tested after wrapping with hairdryer and were cool after a blast with hot air.
Cool box has been throughly wrapped in reflective wrap and sealed again with heat reflective tape with air feed port and 1x8" slot left clear for air to come through bumper and headlight.

I'm going for a spin now to see if my gauge shows lower temps.
Next I need to fit turbo heat shield and lag downpipe.

Nice work Jon.

Someone at the meet suggested having the box open a the front of the car between the rad and the wing to allow cool air to get in from through the gaps between the lights?

I never did a before and after as I just got the gauges off Treacle as the meet.

Fitting the front engine oil rad has made a lot of difference as well.

I get mine mapped by Ryan on the 31st. Should be good?

Agree. From the photo, it looks like the entire intake air is via a 2 inch pipe and the middle of the filter. No easy path to the main airbox and outside of the filter.

You can't see from photo but I did say that I have left a gap at the bottom front of box (facing car) to allow air to flow through bumper/headlights, so there is two entry points for air to pass into filter.

Had a run out earlier, and starting off charged air read 17°c, then got caught in traffic and the apexi said under bonnet temps were 60°c so charged air rose to 30°, but once on the move it came back down to low 20's so much better than before as would rise to 40-50°c, then drop to mid to high 30's.

Good meet on weekend, no worries about hose si. Will get ny pics up soon. Only a few from gorge and beach.
