think the problem with new bolts is people don't clean the thread in the chassis properly before they put in new hardware. That way you need way too much torques to get them fully in, or out again. Been there, done that as well..

From my experience you can spot a non-Toyota bolt a mile off by the rust, that being the reason they stick and also weakening the heads so they round off easily.

Thanks mate! Could you PM me more info/direct pic URLs please? I'm at a French navy hotel and the wifi here is made of cheese I think. Doesn't let me go to that forum :(

Edit - I now have created an account and asked the seller for more details. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again for letting me know! :D

They are 7.5J+48 so not what I'm after, bummer. I'll keep an eye on their for sale section, thanks John.

After the engine bay, the bottom of the car also got some wire wheel love.

Thumbs up if chips of underseal somehow end up in the starfish area?!

Image

Since a lot of equipment is coming out of the car, a lot of brackets can be taken out as well. I decided to take out surplus double plating and more sound deadening. Another painstaking job, but in my opinion worth the effort as it saves weight and makes the interior look a lot cleaner at the same time. Here's a fore and aft view on the right hand rear wheel tub with rear seat brackets to show what I mean:

Attaaack!

The result: a nice and clean tub:

Next up I cleaned the tunnel:

And after removing the rear seat hump and front seat mounts, the floor is quite empty:

Weight saving was over 6 kg (with more to come) for the large chunk of underseal and 9 kg for the plating and brackets.

Does this mean you have started working on your project again or is it the work you did a few months ago?

I'm afraid it's old stuff Don, I'm just sorting out pics and updating the thread accordingly.
