Just a quick one as I had a search and couldn't find anything relevant.

Now, im aware that its very had to compare the indicated boost pressure against an after market boost gauge as there's to +/- reference point on the stock gauge.

Ive been trying to drive the gauge to no boost (0) and seeing what my after market gauge reads (-0.1/-0.2).

Ordinarily I wouldn't worry about a small discrepancy but its the difference between 1-1.1 bar (fine) and 1.2-1.3 bar (little high for my liking)

Hopefully a few of you will try the same as I and we will see whether Toyota are lying to us! lol

I'm just trying to work out which gauge is lying to me and which one to believe so that I know how much I'm actually running

Buying an HKS EVC,HKS EVC-S or Apexi AVC-R next month, any opinions?

I pay little if any attention to the stock boost gauge, its not quantative so of little use really, its also damped to stop it bouncing around.

I used to have a HKS EVC 5 which I then changed for an Apexi AVC-r. The Apexi is far superior in my view and cheaper as well.

Switch on the ignition. With the engine not running all gauges should read 0.

I have aem tru boost. I think its great, its a gauge and controller. It has 2 stored boost settings that you can switch between very quickly. Scramble switch. Many different settings including wastegate crack pressure, and it's all controlled via 2 little buttons on gauge face.

nibbles you have me worried now my stock boost guage creeps into the + slightly when i tourn on the ingnition whould there be any reason for this ???

Potentially a wiring or sensor issue with the MAP sensor which could affect fuelling. Far more likely it's because the standard gauge is rubbish.
