hi guys,ive just purchased a HKS silent hi power,and wanted to know if it can be fitted with axle stands and a trolly jack,or would i have to pay somone with ramps?.

It can be done and have done it a couple of times but it will probably be the best £30-£40 you have ever spent getting a local inde exhaust place to remove your old one and fit the new one! It is a horrible job laying on your back getting covered in shards of rust, then angle grinding teh old exhaust off because it is rusted together. |

if you dont mind getting dirty, do i your self. Only thing which may be a problem is not having a ramp or jack but getting your old exhaust off. If its rusty, you may be under the car for a long time. |

Its definitely worth getting use of a ramp, because of the way the rear section bends over the axle sometimes you need to get the box in at funny angles then twist. Real pain in the rear. Ive done it 3 times and have had to cut the exhaust in half every time |

thanks for the replies,i dont fancy cutting a £650 pound exhaust in half ! ,i gusse i might try my self i have stands trolly jack ect,only concern is getting rear of car high enough with just a trolly jack to get over that crossmember,does anyone have any pics of the fitting ect ?. cheers again

Seriously - don't bother. If the car is driveable just take it to a local exhaust place for them to fit. You will save yourself a world of pain and time. |

Agreed with mike, seriously, just pay to get it fitted!lol I meant cutting the old exhaust, not the hks jobbie |

You'd need a big *bleep* trolley jack to get the rear high enough. I used a ramp and would only do it again with a ramp. Actual replacement is 1 hr max, incl massaging the rear X-member a bit for extra clearance and grinding the old exhaust off: 
I'd say DIY if you can get the car up high enough. |

cheers for all the replies,ive had a word with a mate at the local exhaust centre who said he will fit it for £40-£50 ,so i may go that option lol. one last question does the subframe need persuading to get the hks to fit over it?. cheers |

The HKS endbox really needs a strange angle to fit over the rear axle. For a bit of bonus space remove the right rear wheel. |
