how does one get their car through the mot with an aftermarket turbo that does fit onto the standard cat?

You could look into fitting an aftermarket CAT.

Chippenham, near bath and swindon.

And yes, also had a stick on reg too :)

It's about an hour up a350 from Chris's workshop. Another 20mins to get to the place from here.

I had mot done other week on my 185, has the 205 turbo with no cat, didnt pass emmissions. Garage 'tweaked' idle screw left of throttle body to put it through, but I wasn't watching when this was done and never knew if it actually got through or if he just waived it through!?

Early 94 import is a grey area, depends on the testers interpretation of the rules.
According to my current tester, the age requires a cat test but (if) when it fails he is then allowed to do a non-cat test.
