Post subject:  Brake update for an ST185
hi @ all

I am looking for a brake upgrade for my ST185.
The plan is to upgrade to ~400 hp, so I'll start with the brakes :D

I thought the rear brake of the ST205 would be fine. With yellow stuff pads and drilled and slotted discs.
The only question is, what do I do with the front brake?

Best for me, would be the system from René (Meurz) :P
But new, they are expensive and used never offered.
My limit would be 800 €

So what should I do?
Brembo / Porsche 6 pot??
4 Pot enough?? ST205ers??

What would you recommend :D

I'd go for 205 setup front and rear, standard discs and carbotech pads, not cheap, noisy and dusty, will stop like nothing else though :)

Audi tt disc and ferrodo ds2500 pads front, 205 rears.

Not noisy, minimal dust, and work from cold plus not very expensive.

disks larger than 330 I don´t want to go because I want to keep my 17" 8)

can it be that AP, Wilwood, D2 and K-sport use the same pads??? that would be great. than i could use the brakes that i wanted, only a different brand :D

oh - you'll have to email Barry@MRP about the brakes. It's custom and he doesn't list custom items like the ST185 brakes. He would have kept patterns and notes on how to create the adaptor plates though :)

From what I remember, the AP and K-Sport use the same brake pads, but not the Wilwood.

The K-Sport setup is crap. Talked to a guy who got it on his ST185 tracktool he is using for the Nürburgring. He say he needs two set of rotors every year as they overheating and warp very fast.

I´ve got the AP setup on my CS and it works perfect ! No fading, no warp even on harsh use on mountain roads or the Nürburgring. Definitely worth the money !

Don´t search for upgrade kits made for the ST205 .They will not fit bolt on to the ST185 as the offset of the brake discs is different.

The D2 kit is the same crap as the K-Sport. Came out of the same production. Just the colour differs.

i have the D2 8pots on mine and have for the last 3 year i do a lot of track work and competing, im using the ebx yello pads and iv not had any problem with at all
