As a few of you are aware I've been looking for a power fc. These things are like rocking horse poo :-)

Now I have managed find a hks fcon. What are these like?
Can 2bar tune them? Is it worth £300 secondhand

Unsure if Ryan can - very few mappers in UK for these. IMO your bst off waiting for a PFC or similar.
Member on OC called tops is breaking his car and will be selling a Hydra nemesis ECU

I'm not a member of the oc so if there are any on there Ill probably miss them.

How much is the hydra nemesis going for? Are these readily mappable?

Yeah I've seen a few about, it's always the same when you want something you can't find it. I've been looking every where.

It sounds like a no go on the hks then. Oh well.

I've emailed quite a few places they all got back to me other than tgt :-( its their loss I suppose.

Could you let me know the price when it's been decided.
If its worth it I may just have to join the oc.

There are a number of aftermarket ECU's to consider all in a similar price bracket to the PFC.

The PFC is the only plug & play one I'm aware of (still needs mapping though to be safe)

Most of the non-pfc ones have more features, but very few have any sort of knock sensing / control. IMO this is an engine saver and shouldn't be left out.

Hydra nemesis DOES have knock control.

PFC has knock sensing to give a warning light, but no control. It relies on the driver spotting the light and lifting off.

Link G3 doesn't have knock sensing or control.
Link G4 I think does but may need an extra box.

Other ECU's to look at (not sure about features, I haven't researched) Omex 600 or 710 series (say they do knock control), Emerald, motec (beware, the features cost money to turn on, can get expensive)

Probably others I haven't thought of.

If you get a non-pfc, make sure you get a wiring adapter to connect in to the standard plugs, or factor in the cost of getting one.

The TGT ecu development has gone very quiet. I suspect they've discovered that the testing / bug finding part of the development is the longest part. I'm fully expecting mine to be a year or 2 before I'm happy to release it to market.

Ive told Tops to put some sales threads up on here and that you might be interested in the ECU price dependant

Well knock control is an engine saver so if my budget allows that's the way forward.

The pfc I found was 300 second hand with wiring.

Thanks for the great technical advise nibbles.

I'll keep my eyes open for the sales thread johnboy.

The other thing you can do is connect up an external knock warning box to an ecu input to 'switch maps' or otherwise retard the timing a few degrees. Not an ideal solution as it will be 'reactive' rather than 'proactive' (i.e. you will continue to get knock in the same conditions briefly as the ECU won't adjust the mapping)

Unfortunately, I can now echo that statement :(

I'm sure one of us will be in touch if we find one on our travels.

Could try and pm my old man (nogt4), he's gone back to standard ecu, maybe for the right price he would part :?:

Hi John and Dan,

I'm personally really sorry to read your posts about the OC but I do understand. I will be gutted if because of a few people on the OC you guys are not at Prescott with me in 2014.
