This could interest some, especially if you wish to improve the handling of a GT four.

I think 165,185,205-share similar design; i would like to see how a slightly younger say 205 from 1996 vintage has held up to the riggers of life here in the UK, after years of salting the roads.

No wonder why the rear end felt so loose.

A while back, i asked a few members here & there about the rear cross member bushes, I was told. “Don’t bother” “ never need doing”, well well well, what can i say..

I think it’s like many things, not every one want’s the same results.

Jon - interesting pictures.

Think "Mario" can supply these bushes?

Whilst these bushes look at "bit" worn it doesn't seem commonplace to replace them

I'm certain that a younger car i.e. <17 years old will have a better chance of having better condition bushes!

I wonder if this is the sort of thing that will be a given to replace as these cars get older?

Is Mario the only place to get these bushes Jon?

When I bought my tarmac spec suspension from TTE back in '97 they supplied uprated TRD engine mounts, suspension AND subframe bushes. If anyones interested I can supply the part numbers as they are probably still available from TRD.

Cheers,

Aye, post 'em up Don - we can check them against the uprated TRD bush parts I already have and see what else might be worth looking in to :)

Cheers,
Mark

Quite disturbing indeed.
I suppose if they are treated for rust before they go beyond being repairable then that may well be worth doing.....?

TRD Engine Mount Part Nos, 12378-ST000, 12371-ST000, 12361-ST000, 12309-ST000

Subframe Mount Bushes: 52271-20010 'Toyo'
This number is embossed on the inside of the metalastik bush so I'm not sure if it's a genuine part no.

Pic shows all the parts that TTE supplied with the tarmac spec suspension

Interesting pic Don.

Even more interesting is the fact that obviously TTE believe there is some gains to be had with the replacement of these rear bushes.

It will be interesting to hear how Gary gets on! :D

John Wilson's red JDM ST205 was imported with all this kit fitted and he said the NVH was pretty bad so he changed them back to stock. I still think its worth fitting them to my track beast

In all fairness, I think the 165 has held up remarkable well, 17 years , 1 set of rear crossmember bushes..that’s not bad.

Yes Mario does supply a partial kit for the rear, he only supplies the differential support assembly, not rear cross member ones.

I have yet to see the Mario replacement bushes, I am a little worried about the design of them..

have looked into making the bushes myself, not sure that solid nylon, or aluminium is a good route, dyeline, nylatron, ptfe, all to hard, urethane, and polyurethane seems the choice, but, construction with high material costs, would make producing them quite expensive, as for the sperical bearing bushes, MR T or deffo The TTE ones.

I think the main problem, with the cross member bushes, is I have only checked worn rear ends, its quite probable that healthy rear cross member bushes are excellent in two properties, (1) limiting noise, (2) minimal movement.

Great picture Don, of the TTe tarmac spec bush kit, I notice a few changes to some parts, but the biggest eye opener, was the 4 crossmember bushes, they look like normal ones, even the same part numbers ?, I would expected something trick.

The rear control arms bushes look different, as do the diff supporting member ones.

I know on the ford, Audi works parts wer quite trick, they did not look that different, until you compare side to side each unit.

You don’t have any prices on the TTe bush kit.
