Hi been a member here for few years now, have had a few projects mostly fiestas and escorts but fancied something RWD or even better AWD and couldn't refuse a low mileage wrc my friend had for sale.
spec as current is as followed
CT20B Turbo Ceramic blade
hard piped inter cooler pipe work
huge front mount don't know brand probably ebay special
JE Forged pistons rods unknown
Electronic boost controller
factory extra 5 spokes
estimated power on this spec 300ish bhp possible more

plans for her
strip and check everything for tolerance
clean paint refurbish under body and suspension steering components
re route hard pipes and weld instead of silicon joints
remove air con system and pump
uprate all bushes
and send shell for respray

also planning to remake the rear suspension geometry like this one

put a few hours in on her Sunday, something that had been bugging me was when the rear quarter was replaced a bad job had been made of joining new q to old sill. out come the angle grinder and cut away the affected area

then a template was made and transferred to steel, this was then attached using my snap on mig (its older then me and still makes a cracking bead) filed all down nicely using flap wheel and fold was recreated over the sill to look factory
a coat of stone chip was then applied as it was the only paint to hand

also stripped down the back end, off come the diff cradle which was nice and rusty

not much of a update really, stripped off all the rear suspension, diff and cradle to give the floor a coat of under seal

new drop links and a fresh coat of pain on anti roll bar and i know the brake hose is going the wrong way around the suspension they need to come of for refurbish anyway.

thought i would give the inter cooler a freshen up wist i was at it.

that's about it for now just waiting on loads of parts to come from all around the world got my eye on a carbon boot tho
bought some new bits for the four

got loads more in post
first job was to swap out the leaky clutch slave cylinder check out the internals on the old one, the wrc's must be fitted with trd factory parts

treated the starter motor to a refurb

gave the downpipe some lagging in situ, what nightmare im itching like fook

gave the intercooler pipe work some lagging over the turbo

got abit arty with some card, gonna make a heat shield out of ally keep them temps down

welcome Worren. Where about in the UK are you in and where is the work being done? Are you doing all this your self?
The rear suspension arms. Are they on your car now or was that a borrowed picture?

thanks for the reply guys, im doing all the work myself apart from the paint job that's where my confidence begins to run out, re the rear arms, that is just a picture i have found on my travels i am going to replicate this system with interchangeable rose joints and road bushes giving all the adjustment the car needs have thought about making a run of ten sets of the arms at a price of £300 with £50 additional for hard anodizing, also on the cars is a replacement for the banana arms and fig 8s up front at the moment it is all in the cad development and testing stages

replacement frint and rear arms was one of my agendas hich never managed to see through simply because makers always need large numbers to fabricate.
But do keep us updated if you do manage to make any.

Looks like a great start :)

If you do make yourself some adjustable rear arms consider making a few sets - I would be interested in some! I guess you could just buy and modify 200sx items or similar?

Good to see the progress :) Interesting that you seem to be taking it back to bare metal in places on the underside. Is that because you found corrosion beneath the underseal? I see you have cut out the spare wheel well. I decided not to do that in my build because for certain categories the MSA/Class regulations say you can't modify the floorpan. Regarding the painting would it not be easier to do this after fitting the roll cage or are you fitting a bolt-in pre-painted cage?

I have taken the floor back to bare metal for the seam welding and wait reduction, do they realy class removing the wheel well as floorpan modification? I have also removed all the seat mounting points I presume this is also floorpan modification, the underside and inside will be painted with international marine paint which can be painted to bare metL and is both strong and rust resistant whist being able to flex without cracking, the shell will be painted again when the rollage is built this project is more function over form. Going with a 10 point cage

I'm not sure if removing the seat belt mounting points would be regarded as floorpan modification. Were you trying to reduce weight by removing them? For competition purposes you will need to mount the seats on a couple of transverse tubes or bars between the transmission tunnel and the sill. A good system is to make the mounts out of two different diameters so one fits inside the other like a telescope. This allows the seat (and you!) some sideways movement in the event of a side impact. Unfortunately I only discovered this tweak once we have made up the mounts on my car :( Not a huge deal but it would have been a nice touch.

Worth bearing in mind that the class regulations may provide additional guidance. Older cars which were built a few years ago before the new regs were published and don't comply can be eligible under 'grandfather' rights. Any new build car, even on an old chassis, has to comply with the current regs. They can't be entered retrospectively under grandfather rights.

If you are planning on building your 10-point cage from scratch CDS tube is easier to work with than T45 and also easier to repair (hopefully that will never be necessary!)
