I'll bet he drove the car in too, albeit gently :lol: Remarkable how these engines manage to keep going.

Looking forward to seeing how the linered block build goes and how well it performs & lasts.

No this one arrived on a trailer as matt had already partially stripped the engine, the hks build isnt linered but I am building a linered engine as we speak so wil post that one up for you to follow

Well this one was finished done and gone months ago so time to get the thread finished so I can start new ones :lol:

New flywheel side crank oil seal fitted

New oil pump internals stripped and reassembled with lubricant to avoid any initial start up wear and installed on engine and bottom end all coming together

pretty nice, on my engine it tooks a few minuetes of cranking with starter until it gets pressure

Yes m8 I fully agree thats why I had the tool made to prime everything with the engine stationary and before fitting, on first start up the oil pressure is instant so no initial wear

Hiya don

Yes m8 I prime first with turbo off and then turbo on recording pressures for both when I can, if not then I prime it all in one go but they always get fully primed before engine is installed, I also use the same engine assembly lube or slime as I call it poured in the turbo bearings

Before starting I turn engine over with fuelling disabled only takes a few turns before oil light turns off after the out of car priming procedure, works really well

Cool, reason I ask is that I have to remove the turbo and manifold from my track toy build to do a bit of work. The engine is in the car so its not possible to use a power tool to spin the engine up. On my road car I just rely on cranking the engine on the starter for around 30 secs total time with the EFI fuse pulled.

Aye it seems to take forever for oil pressure to reach enough to turn out the light at cranking speed if nothing is primed before hand, the engine building slime is a great insurance policy for most rotating parts/components though

I can't get the video to work, so a quick probably stupid question from me.

What is engine priming? Getting oil around the block and head before installation?
Benefits? Reason? How to? :-)
