As always this is looking excellent.

Hope to see it in the metal at some point! :D

Not in order and manifold is far from final position. Been messing around with the header tank. Chopped up the old on in the pic to make a taller one. Wiring is getting there but need to test each circuit before goes in the car. Only the dash panel and ecu relay panel is started. The rest will be wen the car is closer to being started.

Also the gold heat insulating wrap on the plenum will probably be removed, looks a bit tacky in my opinion. Think will be painted in thin later of satin black along with IC pipes

I'd leave it on. You won't see most of the gold when installed right? And function > form (and it still looks the business).

Superb build so far, I wish I could work this fast on mine lol.

Cool will do I think. Wrapped the IC pipes as well but think they will go :/.

Thanks fella. Could be wayyyyyyy quicker. Not enough hours in the day and bit enough funds to finish each little bit. Everytime I start abit have to wait till the following month for more funds before I can finish. This month probably goin towards new work horse and insurance. Oh and mot and lessons for bike which is now done [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

If it were me I'd only use the gold foil where there is a risk of heat from the exhaust header and downpipe. If you look at F1 and GT turbo cars that's what they do. Also, I don't think painting the inlet manifold and pipework black will make any difference. If anything, they will probably run hotter due to the paint limiting the heat rejection to air of these components. There's an interesting video on this subject here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_mmmXT ... e=youtu.be
It's mainly focused on radiators and intercoolers but the basic principles still apply to painted or wrapped surfaces.

Once the shortened rear bracket is on will get round to the front supports. As the pics show the column is too low.

What are we looking at here, MR2 electric power steering conversion? I notice that you have an EPAS fuse on the centre console.

Corsa c electric powersteering column. In hindsight should've gone for the mr2 hydraulic setup or a saxo hydraulic pump. Would've been much easier and used the original st205 column.

Doing this conversion I think the weight saving is minimal but I'm not sure if I weighed the cast powersteering pump bracket and added that to the total weight removed.

Interesting! From what I read on the interweb the Corsa EPAS is a fairly common solution in kit car builds. It's 100% electric unlike the hybrid MR2 electro-hydraulic system. There's an interesting link on this from DC Electronics http://www.dcelectronics.co.uk/Products/EPAS/

As I understand it the main advantage in running EPAS is to eliminate the power drain of the belt driven hydraulic steering pump. As an example the standard Honda Integra DC5 pump consumes between 5 and 8bhp whereas the MR2 system uses 0.25 to 0.75bhp via alternator load (source: http://www.enginebasics.com/Advanced%20Engine%20Tuning/Electronic%20Power%20Steering.html)

I'll be interested to see how the Corsa system performs in your car.

The only thing I'm worried about is the amount of load on the input uj of the steering rack before the only time it would see anywhere near the load that will be from the corsa column is when the engine is off dry steering.

One of the ideas was to remove excess power sap from the engine but I never knew it could be as much as that :).

Thanks for the articles.

I have just had a read through this thread and must congratulate you on your works so far. Some really nice ideas are going into this! Good luck with the build and I look forward to seeing the finished product some day :D

Cheers dude. Hopefully it'll pay off. Trying to get as much done before January as I'm getting married in February [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]
