asking here as i know there are a lot of expert brains around here I have a caldina minus the engine and wondered if the rev3 engine would fit? the caldina is an st215 and the rev 4 engine got blown and binned by current owner. its got the autobox and everything else is there |

If memory serves me right the Caldina Gen4 3S-GTE has coil on plug ignition and uses a crank trigger sensor plus the Caldina turbine is an all-in-one assembly. A Gen3 could be modded but you'd have to be prepared to spend a bit of time and effort (and dosh!). Depends how badly the Gen4 is blown if it's economically viable to either repair or replace with a modified Gen3. |

gen 4 had blown turbo (was a hybrid and custom manifold) and a hole in the block. the guy binned it before i managed to do a deal. I would be fitting the rev3 engine and most probably the wiring loom and ECU, but if i could make the rev 3 work with the coilpacks and caldina ecu that would maybe be a bonus. pretty sure i will need a front mount though as there is less space under the caldina bonnet and i dont think the charge cooler would operate properly |

Ah righto. I've converted my Gen3 to COP and Sunny has also done this with his hybrid Gen3/4 build. Other info available on other forums like Alltrac and MR2. |

Steve (two-oh-five) may well have many of the caldina specific bits you need if you PM him as he bought a complete caldina engine and used the bottom end with 205 head etc. You may have trouble fitting a 205 ecu/loom as there is usually some auto box functionality in the ECU. Yor best bet would be to try to fit the caldina sensors / ignition to a 205 engine - ideally use caldina head/turbo/intercooler. |

You would need the 215 engine to run the stock 215 ecu easily. The 215 runs a different oil pump, upper sump and cambelt pulley to allow for a crank position sensor It also runs a different head which is designed to run a separate can position sensor It is quite possible that someone like Nibbles could create a box of electrickery to recreate these signals from the 205 distributor signals as they are the same thing done differently TBH I don't know what is required to run the auto as I've never seen a wiring diagram for Caldinas. I didn't notice any gearbox wiring on the loom I have so its quite likely (and fits the Toyota ethos) that there is a standalone gearbox ecu To run the stock Caldina intercooler you would also need the caldina inlet and a topmount. I even have a 215 turbifold setup if that would be of use. Otherwise a stock 205 exhaust manifold is a direct fit but you may need to fabricate a custom downpipe. The turbifold has a completely different downpipe flange to the 205 so whatever is there now won't work. Its possible a 205 downpipe would connect to the Caldina exhaust but I don't know one way or t'other |

My feeling is that with the amount of work this would be a waste of time. Just bite the bullet and find a Gen4 ST215 engine to go in it. |

Hi, try to get a gen.3 shortblock, if the caldina head is ok then you simple built a gen.4 with your parts around that block, could be a "cheap" option if you can do the work by yourself if no, follow sirius words and get a gen.4 engine from japan, i think there are many import companys in GB greetz |

so the caldina has arrived and I mamanged to get he flywheel for the autobox and the custom exhaust manifold and downpipe I am in discussion's just now to buy a forged rev3 engine and will look to locate a rev4 head and inlet. failing that and if i have to fit the full rev 3 engine I will be back for advice |
