Just wondering if you experienced problems with the standard mounts in your hillclimb spec 185 and if so what were they? OR Did you just fit these just in case?

I did have poly mounts in for about 5years, and they made a big difference over stock mounts, don't for get they were only meant to take 205bhp on the 185 and 240bhp on the 205 plus there over 20years old now, but now doing more track time and competing decided to go race spec with had improved even more over the poly I did have, uprated mount rely make a big difference Edd with his 500+205 was told by his mapper that it needed better mounts as the engine was moving around so much on and of the power, he has my uprated yellow poly mounts and says its like gaining 50bhp they way the power gets put down and its more controllable, these 205 mount are not for me there for a lad that competes in a 205,

Yes I can confirm what Lou says, I fitted some of his "road spec" yellow mounts a few weeks back and it made a huge difference to power delivery, the power feels much more savage with the mounts. Plus the thing I was really impressed with is that I've not noticed any increase in vibration or noise, having been in a friends ST205 with poly mounts and it was horrific, these are not like that at all.

I can whole heartedly recommend the yellow mounts, well worth the money. Not tried the black @race spec" ones so can't comment on those.

Did you consider fitting an engine mount damper like this? Prevents excessive rocking of the engine as power is applied on-off-on. Has the advantage of retaining some damping from the standard mounts too.

that would help, seen a lots of car's use something like that, but stock mounts are not that good for any thing over stock power from my experience, and dot for get most mounts are 20+years old, that why I first when to poly, but its like with mine I have replaced some of the rear end pushes for my race spec and ally mounts, and what a difference it all has made, the car feels tight and more responsive, next to do it the 4 main rear subframe bushes and then the rear arms in race spec

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've fitted new engine mounts to my track toy using the ones TTE supplied with my original TRD dampers. Not sure if they are uprated or not. All my subframes are polybushed, suspension rosejointed and rear diff solid mounted so we'll see if that works.

I might give the damper a go first if the mounts feel like they are an issue and then lastly do poly engine mounts and SuperGlue my fillings!

Don, that's why I chose the road spec mounts to keep some damping. As I say there is no difference in vibration or noise, if you sat in the car you would not know it had uprated mounts fitted. Those dampers probably make a difference as well but haven't tried one.

Basically from my experience so far there is no downside, only plus points. Haven't run them for long enough to comment on longevity but can't see it being an issue. Quite happy for anyone to have a ride in my car and see for themselves :)

Edd, don't tempt me! I'm just a bit wary about uprated engine mounts after Mike tried making some and the results were extreme. I think he subsequently discovered he'd ordered the wrong Shore hardness rating! Where did you get yours? The Polish guys only seem to do the front mount for the ST205.

I got mine from Lou ^

As I said I have been in cars will poly mounts before and hated it, I had an s13 track car with poly and it was horrible, these have none of the problems. I was dubious about buying a set for this reason but as my mapper told me I desperately needed to uprate the mounts I thought I would give a set of the BRD ones a go, expected them to have the same issue but not at all. They are a really good product and the price is more than reasonable too. I would say the benefits will be more noticeable on a high powered car, as you can see my power comes in very hard so a lot of stress on the mounts (at the wheel figures):

By the way Lou isn't paying me to say this! If they were crap I would have no issue saying they were crap publicly, but they are actually great and really good quality too.

Thanks Edd for the review on the mount, i prefer people to be honest about them so If there is a problem I can look into making them better, I have tried and tested different shore ratings of poly, and found for my own testing and feed back form others that have been testing for me that the Yellow poly i now use is the right rating to get the bets out of them, if you would a look round my BRD page at what I do make https://www.facebook.com/Brooks.Racing.Dev
