Well I suppose I could just give the company a call, but I may also try the camskill price match as well. How thick is a standard radiator btw? Im away from my car for the holidays so cant check. If it's up to scratch I may just order it in the new year before the engine is reassembled as the best price for a rad that I have seen.

Just to throw my 2p in, I'd stick with standard from tcb, and will be doing so with mine. Confirm it's the jap spec one which is sightly thicker as I recall.

As said plenty of high power cars have used standard rads. Copper core, lot more r&d done by Toyota vs ebay crap etc etc. Plus you get to speak to the good chaps at tcb :)

If you want it for how they look go for it, if you want to improve the cooling, add a header tank/swirl pot setup.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will probably order one from a more reputable parts supplier. Euro car parts only seem to do basic 2.0 litre celica rads. As much as I want to try and save cash where I can.

(edit) just found this http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Toyota_Celica_2.0_1996/p/car-parts/car-cooling-parts-and-car-heating/cooling/car-radiator/?203820400&1&feb2433120f18283bfe02dafbb23a266f461304e&000261

Koyo radiator: Core Dimensions 350 X 664 X 25 mm copper core and only £70 odd quid

It says 3sgte on the spec, but also say for vehicles without air con?? not sure why if this is a factor as my one definitely has air con.

Any additional advice on this one would be helpful, as i have moved away from the fleabay item, as much as it is cheap, I certainly don't want false economy.

Cheers

(edit) thanks Animal66 I am looking for a standard setup, not looking for any power gains for the moment, but you are certainly right about Toyota's development of components, they're tough and reliable.

Not near a car to measure but pretty sure the gt4 radiator is more like. 40 or 50 mm thick.

I read it the same, with OR without air conditioning so you would be OK.

Cut and paste from Eurocarparts site below.

Vehicle Equipment For vehicles with/without air conditioning

But, I googled for a review for Koyo parts and this came up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTok7pPcUUI

Could be one in a million though????

Who knows?

TCB Parts would be my choice, as I have bought enough parts from them to be confident that if it is not a genuine Toyota part, is as good as the genuine part :D

Just had a look at TCB's offering for the ST205 rad and something doesn't add up. The OEM rad top tank/core is 50mm thick but the AVA core part number TO2200 for the ST205 is listed at 24mm thick. AVA link here: http://ava.web.shphosting.com/techinfo_ ... _pub.lasso
Also, as I think has been mentioned earlier its the same AVA part number for the ST202 but the OEM part number is different.

Dan bought a 205 rad from tcb, as mentioned earlier, and it was the correct thicker rad. And from memory was about £100. It may be a misprint on their site. Worth a phone call.

Well, I think it is fairly clear now that, I should just get a replacement from TCB, rather than go bargain hunting as obviously it's a bit of a mine field of unsuitable products, but at least I now know I need a 50mm core, that certainly helps. Thanks for all the advice.

So I thought I would ask on this thread as it's relevant and has some of the back story to my needs etc..

So with a rad flush and new coolant, my rad has managed to fight on for nearly a year, with no issues. However having sorted out the underside of the car I want to tidy up the engine bay and replace all the rads and mounts with new/reconditioned or uprated items. This is partly for performance but also aesthetics. They are all dented/rusty and if I get all the body work sorted out, the shabby rads will more than likely catch the eye a great deal more.

For the main radiator TCB will be my first port of call.

However...

What about a Mishimoto rads, worth considering? - (I know I don't need one, but they look good :) )
Where can I find new fan shrouds?-do they come with a new OEM rad?
Where can I get the charge cooler rad?
Oil cooler-Mocul coolers worth it?
New or uprated power-steering cooler?

I'm going to save up for this lot and do it properly, switch to gas struts, cooling panel etc... so anything else I should consider?

Thanks

I my self did some back to back testing on and off track, I fitted an ebay 56mm triple core ally rad, witch I thought would help with my over heating when on track, but it did not, in fact it was worse, and on the road for normal driving it was ok but I still was not impressed, then I got a new rad from TCB witch as ally core and copper fins, as not 1 does a full copper rad any more even Toyota could not comfurm that there rads was full copper, but with the TCB rad my temps on and off track came down by 5-10c over the ebay 56mm ally rad, so now I only use the TCB rad, with the ebay rad on track temps were 100-110c but with the TCB rad temps were 90-95c tops, and on the road the ebay ally rad was 90c but with the TBC rad 80-85c, and as been said, fensport ran a stock rad to 500bhp+

have to say my brothers Koyo rad seems to do a good job with his forged engine and 3071 at 2 bar boost.

In saying that I run the stock core and that also works perfectly fine on my car albiet at only 1.2 bar boost

Ok so thanks for the feedback on the main radiator I don't think I will be going any where near 500bhp any time soon :). I will stick with stock.

But what about the other bits. Fan shrouds, CC radiator and power-steering cooler, oil cooler where is best to look for these parts?

Thanks

stick to stock fan and shrouds if you can, this is my set up, RC fan on the left and St205 fan on the right all on a stock radiator
