I fitted a c-one copy engine undertray today, took an awful lot of fettling but got there in the end.

However id like to enclose the sides as the stock trays do. I was trying to think of a suitable material which is bent and shaped easily, something like a neoprene fabric? I was planning to use some sort of quick release fastening to the tray itself, maybe even just Velcro? What have others used? Don't want to use more ally.

Cheers,
Jon

I suspect the aerodynamic loads would make short work of Velcro attached neoprene side panels  I'd look at making up some panels from sheet ally secured with quick release Dzus fasteners. Much easier and cheaper solution.

I've seen rally cars use corflute / plastic corrugated sign boards zip tied to the bottom of their cars for protection. Depends on if you want to bodge it. I'd personally get some sheets of 1.6mm ABS plastic and attach at factory mounting points and poss chuck some rivnuts into the aluminium undertray.

I was surprised that I couldn't find ABS sheet cheaper than equivalent aluminium sheet here in the UK. If anyone has a source I'd be interested to know.

Cheers, on reflection I'm thinking about cutting the relevant pieces off the standard undertrays and rivnutting, after all they are a guaranteed fit and of a suitably robust construction. My car came with a missing undertray on the cambelt end as the aftermarket exhaust prevents it from being used (and meant I had to butcher the ali c-one copy). I'm also missing the smaller front tray from under the rads so will need to source one of those!
