The ET marking is not very helpful, I measured from the back of the wheel hub to the back of the rim and got 6omm is that any help for working out offset?

Hi, looking to get some slimline wheel nuts so I can fit my after-market wheels. Any ideas on what available and where's best to get them? Will any old tuner alloy nuts do off ebay, or do I need Toyota GT-Four specific ones? what kind of Dimensions should I be looking for? EG: M12x1.5mm or smaller/bigger??? Ebay links etc much appreciated Thanks in advance |

I would not use alloy nuts if I were you. You'll also need to know what kind of 'seat' your wheels have to get the right nut. AFAIK the M12x1.5 size you quote is correct. |

If I was to post up a few images of the wheels focusing on the PCD area, would that help? I have never been much of a wheel expert, I and I didn't even know about the 'Seat' type. Is alloy too soft, do I want chromed stainless? Wheels are a decision minefield. Thanks for the advice so far Sirius. |

Alloy nuts tend to gall and stick on the stud. When this happens their soft construction ensures that they disnitigrate when you apply lots of force and much merriment and tugging of beards ensues Have a Google for your wheel specs and check to see what the wheels seat angle is |

Got some off Ebay, specifically for the GT-Four, and they fit my wheels too. Just waiting on spacers now. Thanks for the Advice.

haha I'm glad you like them, even those were not quite straight forward. They are a combination of two cheapo ebay jobs Adhesive centre cap stickers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-56mm-2-2-C ... OC:GB:3160 Appropriate cheap universal centre caps: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-ALLOY-WHE ... OC:GB:3160 I used a hair drier to warm the adhesive coating up to get maximum adhesion as thy are domed, they don't quite touch the whole surface of the centre caps. In other news I have just ordered the correct spigot rings. All I have to do now is get some proper spacers, as the PO very kindly gave me some, but they're rusty and just the shim type. The spacers are 5mm which clears the callipers, so by deduction what offset would that make my wheels without the spacers? 30 or 40? With the wheels being 8J would 25mm spacers be too much? Also what's the centre bore relating too? the wheel or the hub? so many questions, I just find wheel fitment overly complicated sometimes. |

After all that ebaying, buying shim spacers and nice steel nuts, it transpires that I need extended studs to run these wheels safely. Another job for the summer me thinks. |

Why do you think you need extended wheel studs? Is this what you've been told or have you come to this conclusion yourself? The reason I ask is that some people think if the stud doesn't pull up on all of the nut thread then it will be an MOT failure or dangerous. I'd expect your extended length wheel nuts will 'look' bad with lots of thread visible but the nut may well have engaged the stud with plenty of thread. Depends how many thread rotations you have got. |

Basically the garage I went to, to get the wheels fitted and tracking done, refused to put the wheels on. The reason being there was was only 4 threads/thread rotations holding the wheel on. He said in terms of his insurance/my safety he was unhappy to let me run them and the only way would be if I put the wheels on myself, then came back for tracking. So by this point I had reached the end of my tether. I just called up a used tyre place and bought 4 part worn dunlops for £100 for the tri-spokes. I was against the clock so to speak: needed the Celica tyre situation sorted, so I coul hand it over to my GF. As she needs to get her Yaris fixed. Any links/sources for good extended studs? Thanks |

Four rotations does sound a bit marginal so longer studs sounds like a prudent move. I believe the extended studs can be a bit of a fiddle to fit. I've only ever replaced standard length studs after an embarrassing loose wheel incident on the way down to Le Mans  Can't remember why Mike has extended studs given he has OEM facelift six spokes. Maybe they were for his spare track wheels? I'm sure he will recall what was involved in fitting them

I have 2 extended studs due to one stud shearing during a track day wheel change - from the discolouration in the break it was clear the stud had been damaged a long time previously, whilst trying to work out how to get the stud out I damaged another one resulting in two needing replacement. I only went for extended ones as Toyota didn't have OEM ones in stock. I still have a big bag of extended ones but I can't remember how many I bought in total, not sure if there is enough for a whole car left over. I will take a look tomorrow. The extended ones can be a bit of a pain to fit as the angle for getting them into the back of the hubs is not great. |

Thanks Sirius and Track Toy, had a look at demon tweaks, the Grayston wheel studs look ideal. Tying to work out the profile is another hurdle now, there are 2 options Ford or Vauxhall, Ford offers great length options right up to 80mm. Any ideas on which spline type is correct/will fit OK?  Also any ideas on the length of a standard stud? That way I could gauge how much more thread I need. The other option which seems a bit cowboy is to order the longest possible and just cut the excess bolt off, once fitment is good-that does sound like busy work too. |
