There is a thread about this >> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=904&hilit=head+manifold+porting but it seemed to go off in different tangents (no one seemed to answer Steve's question) and didn't want to get flamed for resurrecting an old thread.

(everything Rev3) Will the 3SGE head fit on a 3SGTE block? What other mods are required? Is it worth it? Has it been done? Advantages?

If it not worth it, then how about just pinching the cams and maybe the valves? (very cheap you you see, except the machining for the new valves etc..)

Also, a 3SGE uses a side fed manifold, why are they not uses as a basis for re-routing FMIC pipework rather that going down the custom route or using the rare rev 4 vsion or something??

I haven't checked the specs but I'd have thought the 3S-GE valve diameter and head porting is smaller diameter than the 3S-GTE and the same probably applies to the side feed inlet manifold. These factors would restrict the output of the engine.

Some say there are benefits in using 3S-GE cams in a 3S-GTE engine but I can't say I've seen any dyno evidence. Maybe someone out there can help?

edit: might of got ahead of myself..
Looks like a rev 3 3sge intake is completely different.
however >> http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37031&start=105

I'm getting confused by the different revisions (rev 6 celica has rev 3 3sgte etc...)

maybe mixer could clear this up a little?
