I was scrolling through Bazai Baz's build thread amongst others and it got me thinking about quick release bumpers:
Has anyone used this system before? Quick latch or pitking panel release catches?

Or something similar to this kit for the EVO : http://trackdaytuners.com/tuner-central ... elease-kit

I think if done right it could make working on the car a lot easier.

I went with Aerocatches for my front bumper, bonnet and tailgate as they seem to have been widely adopted by many race teams. No reason why other types might not work but it really depends on the detail where you want to install. I didn't want unsightly bonnet pins and bits of wire sticking up to ruin the look of the car.

I don't suppose you could post up some images of the aerocatches on the bumper could you? or link me a thread. I ideally want something subtle, that will just allow me to remove the bumper in 1 minute rather than 15mins. I quite like these pitking products and I imagine all that is needed it some sort of bracket welding to the wing and a bit of bumper chopping to fit them?

I took some more pics of the front of the car today with the nose cone/bumper removed so will post up some pics so you can see what we've done on my car.

I am doing a quick release bumper on mine shortly, I have aerocatch 3 for the sides (same as Don) and looking at using the black pitking fasteners for the front or top of the bumper. Will add some pics to this thread when it's done.

Thanks Gents, much appreciated. Looks like I may need a combination of pit kings and aerocatches. Do the aero catches have little keys?

Not the aerocatch 3 that are used on panel gaps like the wings to bumper joint. But the normal aerocatch ones for mounting bonnets and flat panels have a lockable option, some people use these on a flat surface at the front of the bumper, with the pins fixed to the bumper bar behind

Lots of pics of my front bumper catches and tailgate. We found that even with the front chassis leg pins and Aerocatch 3 side catches to secure the front of the RTP bumper/splitter there was still a need for the bolts to pull the front of the wings and the sides of the bumper together. Rather frustrating as I wanted to be able to replace the whole front bumper assembly as quick as the Aussie V8 SuperCars. Need to see what improvements I can make to the current setup.

P.S. I think I may replace the front bonnet aerocatch with the same locking aerocatches as I've used on the rear tailgate. Not keen on the way it looks currently,

Thanks for those images Don, your car looks stellar. It also gives me a good idea of where the aero catches should sit. Much appreciated. I love the split cooling system BTW.

Very cool rad/intercooler design!
