Any idea on where to get one?

The 16x- 7th gen all use the same style shift rod. I'm using a short shift rod from a ae92 in my 185. I just bought some thick bushings the size I needed to raise the shift assembly for clearance. I also picked up an oem 7th gen shifter which has similar dimensions to the short shifter made for the car for much less than the short shift kits.

It may. The ball in the center and cups should be the same size. I do not know how much longer thevlower rod of a 7th gen shifter is. That may affect inner clearance. That is why I suggest an oem one. Keep in mine you may need to bend or cut and weld the upper section depending on angle. The 5th gen tilts back so I have to modify the 7th gen one on top for a more optimal angle.

OK thanks. Any other sources of getting one? I have seen some sites in the US but its going to come out around £250 all in to get it here.

Do you have local junk yards? That is likely your best bet. There or ebay. If you look for a oem 5speed one from a 7th gen I imagine they are pretty cheap.
