The 16x- 7th gen all use the same style shift rod. I'm using a short shift rod from a ae92 in my 185. I just bought some thick bushings the size I needed to raise the shift assembly for clearance. I also picked up an oem 7th gen shifter which has similar dimensions to the short shifter made for the car for much less than the short shift kits. |

It may. The ball in the center and cups should be the same size. I do not know how much longer thevlower rod of a 7th gen shifter is. That may affect inner clearance. That is why I suggest an oem one. Keep in mine you may need to bend or cut and weld the upper section depending on angle. The 5th gen tilts back so I have to modify the 7th gen one on top for a more optimal angle. |

OK thanks. Any other sources of getting one? I have seen some sites in the US but its going to come out around £250 all in to get it here. |

Do you have local junk yards? That is likely your best bet. There or ebay. If you look for a oem 5speed one from a 7th gen I imagine they are pretty cheap. |
