Post subject:  Fuel System Upgrades - Wolfkatz

Okay, here's a quick run-down of what I have planned next. When my sorted head comes back it'll go on with a metal head gasket and ARP head studs. Internals will stil be stock at this stage so I'm not planning on going mad with the boost, but reckon the internals should be able to take 1.2bar of the TD06 via a properly mapped Motec.

So, here's the question. I already have the SARD 800cc side feed injectors and a Walbro in tank 255l pump. I'm planning on getting a Wolfkatz fuel rail for the injectors and obviously the Motec will be set-up to use them. My only thought now is do I need to upgrade the standard fuel set-up (only 440cc injectors remember) at this stage to get to 1.2 bar? I'm thinking it'll be a yes as the 440s wont flow enough, but then it's a case of how much boost do you think the standard fuel set-up will support.

That said, in typing this, I've pretty much answered my own question so I might as well order the fuel rail now *lol* - is there anyone who's already purchased this bit of kit can confirm if the side-feed rail is the one I require? Thanks :)

From my humble understanding you will run out of petrol.

It appears that with a good tune and everything running right the 300hp barrier appears to be the level of the stock 430cc injectors.

Thought Wolfkatz did rails for top feed injectors, not side feed?

They do both but you are better off with top feed IMHO and maybe 850cc injectors and aeromotive fuel regulator.

I already have the SARD 800 side feeds and was hoping to use them. Aeromotive fuel regulator will be added to my shopping list.

I'm not going for silly power so don't need the best of the best, just building a strong spec for around 400 ponies :)

As far as i can see - and following some of my own investigations you can calculate your requirements from the brake specific fuel consumption or BSFC.

This site's pretty good

Aye Rob, you can. I haven't actually found a way of measuring BSFC and I don't recall ever coming across a generic 3S-GTE version.
I guess it could be reverse engineered or you can put down a guess which I'd say might be +-10% which, IMO, is plenty accurate for sizing injectors

Although empirical evidance tels you that 800s ought to be ~75% @ 400 hp

Latest order placed - Wolfkatz side feed fuel rail together with Aeromotive FPR and fitting kit. Looking forward to this now, the finishing posts are in sight!
