Hi all, Who knows - what are the sizes (inner our outer diameter, mm) of hoses, which are utilised in ST205 (under the bonnet)? (Radiator hoses & metal hoses are out of request, all other are wanted ![]() Correct me if I'm wrong - there are 4 types: - 4 mm - 6 mm - 8 mm - 16 mm Plus: what hoses are untouchable for being substituted with Samco's stuff? I've heard, that Samco's stuff are suitable with some exceptions.. - i.e. Samco's aren't stable while working with some chemical substances.. |

Any pressure line e.g. FPR wastegate actuator should ONLY be replaced with hoses designed to hold pressure i.e. not the Samco vacuum hose that is commonly used |

Huh, Kris, It's clear definitely - these ones will be happy to meet Aeroquip stuff.. |

Kris, BTW, Would you be so kind to give a hint - what are the pressure-holding hoses - all the list? So, from now on: 1) FPR hose 2) Wastegate actuator hose 3) ??? 4) ??? Also it will be a nice turn for all clubbers to know brands & part. no.'s of hoses, which could be used as a substitutes for stock pressure-holding ones - i.e. for FPR hose replacement, for WG actuator hose replacement... Aeroquip??? ??? ??? Thanks in advance. |

I suppose pretty much all of the hoses are holding pressure since the engine uses a turbo. I mention the above ones as on the 205 it doesn't matter if the other hoses fail, it'll just be an air leak, whereas if the FPR or wastegate hoses fail then a whole world of pain is just around the corner ![]() Quote: what are the pressure-holding hoses - all the list?
It seems quite common to replace all the rest of the air hoses with samco vacuum hose. Other areas I would pay attention to would be particular hoses that come into contact with oil or oil mist such as turbo hoses and air intake, these need to be lined to help them resist breaking down due to the oil. The turbo outlet hose may also be another to look closer at since this muct resist pretty high temps say 150C minimum Maybe it would be easier to just leave the stock air lines etc in place? ![]() ![]() |

Agree with Kris. After havinga samco hose (unbraided) split on my St185 and suddenly had 1.7 bar and rising! Don't do it m8. Get proper braided hose - Maybe metal braided if you wnat to do it properly. |

Aha.. So, thanks.. What I'll do: Super-duper investigation for splitting all the hoses into 2 groups: 1) Air carriers 2) Liquid carriers Then group #1 will be devided onto 2 subgroups: 1a) carrying HP air 1b) carrying LP air Then group #2 will be devided onto 3 subgroups: 2a) carrying non-dangerous & surrounded with no fallouts of dangerous LP liquids 2b) carrying & surrounded with fallouts of dangerous LP liquids 2c) carrying non-dangerous HP liquids 2d) --//--//- dangerous HP liquids Samco could be used for: 1b, 2a Metallic hoses could be used for: 1a, 2b, 2c, 2d Will try to post a report on it.. |

all of my vac hoses are replaced with samco/sard vac hose, been on there for about 10 months now with no issues, i do check all the hoses over every now and then, never had to replace one or found any splits yet. |

Fluoro-silicon lined hoses are resistant to oil but are expensive to produce so most commonly available after-market silicone hoses don't have this lining ![]() Quote: The turbo outlet hose may also be another to look closer at since this muct resist pretty high temps say 150C minimum
I've recently been running a temperature sensor in the post-compressor, pre-intercooler hose and this has shown temperatures of up to 75C under brief periods of acceleration. My engine is essentially unmodified (apart from a hybrid turbo). Modified 3S-GTE's probably see higher temps. |

Aha.. So, all is up to logics. As usual. |

Mates, Who can give me the sizes (dia) for those hoses, which are reasonable to be replaced with silicone ones? |

With using metal braided hose you may also want to consider the issue of abrasion - the metal will rub through any silicon or rubber lines its touching in a pretty short amount of time. |

Ok, as I see - nothing concrete. As usual. |

i got a 3m length of 4,5 and 6mm internal samco hoses, did every vac hose in the bay with some to spare. |

I tend to agree with Kris' approach Keep mission critical stuff in aeroquip/braided/fuel line This I would consider, like Kris FPR to inlet manifold Turbo to wastegate actuator and from there to any boost control mechanism Inlet manifold to MAP sensor Anything else will fail safe, these will not I keep meaning to tidy up the maze under the bonnett but every time I look at it I loose heart |
