Is it possible to uprate the charge cooler cap? If so, is it a type 'S' or 'N' fitting? Is it something worth doing? |

IMHO it is just bling. IIRC they run a 0.7 or 0.8 bar rad cap as standard. The water should not get to temp sufficient to generate that kind of pressure IMHO or else you have an interwarmer and not an intercooler! I have never found the chargecooler fluid to become hotter than "Tepid" when dunking a finger in it. I must admit to finding it quite warm once but teh chargecooler pump had failed. |

Thanks for that JP. Was looking at one of those TRD 1.3/1.5bar caps for the rad and was thinking about getting another one for the charger cooler to match ![]() |

erghh - yes I bought one many years back ![]() I also bought some silly TRD aluminium oil filler cap and all kinds of junk. TBH it depends on what you want it for m8. Bling has it's place. |

I've been rumbled ![]() Just looking at dressing up the 205 a little bit but was looking at practicality as well as bling. I also like to keep to a theme. ![]() |

Quite right Nigel, style is important. The last thing you want is for your engine bay to be spoilt by a poxy standard spec I/C cap ![]() ![]() FWIW the Koyo ally rad for the ST205 uses the same size cap as the top mount I/C tank. |

OK. Just been out to the car and had a look under the bonnet. Both caps are rated at 0.9 bar. However, the fitting is subtly different, that is, they are not inter-changeable. The rad cap is a type S (so I'm led to believe). The charge cooler cap is slightly larger and deeper. Umm! Going to hunt around the net and see if I can get more info. |

Fensport stock the 1.5bar TRD charge cooler/Koyo ally rad caps. The one you want is the Type S, TRD Part No. 16401-SP020 described on the pack as TRD Radiator Cap. All the other writing on the pack is in Japanese. |

I'm confused ![]() TRD Japan http://trdparts.jp/english/list_st-celica.html quote - TRD Radiator Cap: 16401-SP030 NENGUN http://www.nengun.com/trd/radiator-cap quote - TRD Radiator Cap: 16401-SP002 S Type - Relief pressure 127kPa(1.3kgf/cm2) 16401-SP020 S Type - Relief pressure 147kPa(1.5kgf/cm2) 16401-SP030 Type N - Relief pressure 127kPa(1.3kgf/cm2) So which one would I want for the radiator and which one for the charge cooler ![]() |

I'm confused why you are confused...... ![]() For the ST205 top mount charge cooler tank you need the Type S, TRD Part No. 16401-SP020. Its still called a radiator cap on the TRD packaging. The same cap will also fit the aftermarket aluminium Koyo R1958 engine radiator for the ST205. This uses a different size radiator neck to the OEM radiator. i.e. you can't use an OEM rad cap on an aluminium Koyo rad. If that's still not clear give me a bell m8 ![]() |

Clear as Mud(dy Water) ![]() So, if I understand correctly.... TRD Radiator Cap: 16401-SP020 S Type - Relief pressure 147kPa(1.5kgf/cm2) fits both the Charge Cooler and the Koyo Rad. So can I assume that TRD Radiator Cap: 16401-SP030 fits the standard rad ![]() |

![]() Yep, I'm pretty sure that's the case. I have three TRD rad caps buried in the back of the garage or loft. They were incorrectly sent by Fensport. I did try and dig them out this afternoon to check on the part number but they've gone walkabout ![]() |
