A question for who has TTE rods in his engine, and is using the car in track and not for 10-seconds "races": where did you put your rpm limitter? I'm asking because last Sunday I used for the first time the car in track after the latest mods, and at 7600 it's still pushing fecking hard... Wolf |

I've got TTE rods but decided not to fit them as my engine spec is now 500+bhp. I've used Carillo rods instead. The TTE rods were designed for rally use (~400bhp @ ~7000rpm) so I wouldn't be confident of using them in an engine built for circuit use where the rev limit and power output is higher. |

Mmm... I'm using them till 2007 and never had a problem even if my bhp is MUCH higher and I always used them to 7600 rpm. AFAIK, and as far as I've seen when I installed them, the TTE seems to me to be the stock (100% SAME design) with, maybe, different material... so would be very strange if the stock could reach 7500 rpm and the TTE no... Moreover I know for sure they are using here these rods even in de-restrictored 3SGTE for ice-races (for example Yaris with 450 bhp). BTW, it sounds correct that if approaching to 8000 rpm, it would be better to change to other stuff... Wolf |

Yep, the rods look pretty much the same as the OEM ones. Like you say I think the material must be upgraded. The finish is still pretty rough so before using them I'd probably get them shot-peened, polished etc. |

Other meat for the BBQ: Wolf: Mr. XXX, talking about the TTE connecting rods (Japanese ones) for ST205, I need to know their maximum safe rpm limit for track use. Thank you, regards. Mr. XXX: Hello Sir Maximum is 8500 RPM With kind regards |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njbj6xeYCoU I definitely need to raise up a bit the limitter... ![]() |

Balancing and also piston selection will play a major role in RPM limit too e.g AlBe (Aluminium Berillium or "Unobtainium" to the common person) pistons of 2 ring slipper racing spec would probably double the rev limit due to their ridiculously low mass |

Yes, it absolutely has sense that an inertial mass reduction will decrease rods' stress. I have modified wrc pistons in, so rpm limit must be higher than with stock pistons, even if i remember they were not so light as the as the cp i had in the past... |

Heavy rods and heavy pistons = same stress on con rods etc at lower rpm than lighter pistons and rods. I have a formula to work out the stress placed on the con rod for fitting different weight pistons and rods. This is in an excel spreadsheet, anyone interested then drop me a line with your email address and I'll send it over for all you geeks to look at/use ![]() |
