And was pleasantly surprised when I saw the result:

Image

1400 kg.. As per info above the display, it should be somewhere in between 1390 and 1409 kg then. Less than I expected it to be! :)

This is with 26L fuel in the tank, without driver and still with stock prop shaft. Also, most of the interior is stripped out at the moment. All of the plastic panels (+ speakers) behind the doors, as well as rear seats + belts are gone and won't come back. Command centre temporarily looks like this but will be lightened anyway:

I reckon (<)1300 kg should be possible down the road of my project plans.

Fyi - I've weighed some parts I took out earlier: http://www.turbocelica.nl/weightreduction.htm

Interesting result. My local weigh bridge (accurate to 1kg as I can testify from weighing in scrap metal before) weighed my ATA in at 1340kg!

BOTH yours must be broken!

As a local magazine weighed a stock ST185RC with full tank, sunroof and 80kg pilot at 1618 kgs!

1618+
80- pilot
15- sunroof
50- fuel
--------------
= 1473 kgs

Sounds about right. My CS with 1/3 tank of fuel, 2 litres water for the WI, full interior and tow bar was 1460kg

Please don't think an ATA system would be WAY lighter than stock WTA !

I weighed both the setup, and the difference is ONLY 2 to 4 kgs according to pipes material!

Surely it must be more than that for stock systems?

The actual coolers must be about the same but you've got a pump, another radiator, varoius pipes and coolant to add up with the wta setup

I'd guess the 215 Caldina ata core s lighter than the 205 wta one but it's plastc tanked which must help

Hi,

the ST215 intercooler is definitely lighter against the ST205 core, but the top mounted system have nothing compare with ATA system like people here and anywhere build

Ah ok... I obviously was talking about FMIC when talking about ATA...
I didn't thought you were talking about ST215 ATA, sorry !

A decent FMIC core, or even just a 2nd hand Evo core, is only going to weigh about the same as the WTA's radiator. What kind of pipes are people using for the FMIC piping to equal the weight of a chargecooler core, pump, plumbing and 4 (iirc) litres of coolant?

PS: I personally weighed them...

WTA stock ST205 intercooler with bolts: 5 kgs
intercooler water radiator with bolts: 2.8 kgs
All the water: 4.6 kgs
Ic pump with pipes, hoses, clips: 4.1 kgs
-----------------------------------------------------
TOTAL 16.5 kgs

My ISR FMIC with brackets and bolts: 8.8 kgs
My 2.5" STEEL pipes with clips and silicon hose couplings: 6 kgs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL 14.8 kgs

That is to say 1.7 kgs less than stock WTA setup.

Now with aluminum pipes I saved another 3 kgs, so now difference is 4.7 kgs.

Bear in mind the WTA setup has a stack of water in it normally too. Probably about another 4-5kg.

He's included that. A bigger problem than the weight of a CC is the positioning of that weight...all the way up front and on top of an already heavy engine & box.
