Just a quick one, I plan on doing some major work to a replacement GT4 shell...I havnt got one yet, but when I do I want to make sure that all is well with the shell (hey that rhymes :D ) I`ll do the obvious checks for rust and dents, dings etc but I`ll also want to check that it is all straight and true. So once i break out the ruler I`ll need to know what and where the measuring points are, what I should be measuring and what the tolerances are. Does anyone know? or is it a case of taking it to a body shop or specialist and getting them to measure it?????

True, but is there some measurements I can do as a rough guide as I dont want to spend money transporting a shell home etc until I`m at least half sure its a good un....or is it a case of fingers crossed and hope for the best.

BGB body book should have all the alignment measurements. I got a ST185 one , not sure where the 205 body one is.

You can do a few diagonals to make sure everything is squareish but a jig is the only way to be absolutely certain.

Have a chat with a local repair agent and see if they can get any numbers from their alignment jigs - there's published tables for most cars although the 205 might be too old to have them - major chassis work = write off now

Failing that try Toyota themselves. It's common enough for bodyshops to go back to the manufacturer for information. Might be worth a PM to peterp1per to see if they have any old stuff floating about

the BO ( Body section) of the BGB have the details, you measure with a tracking bar, then from center point of hole to hole, measure and compare the publish mm lengths......
