Hey guys ive posted before sorry for the questions but being into my vws and audis im not too affay with the gt4s.especially models from japan.Anyway down to the question i had a track day today and the car was fantastic however the model i have is the jdm as you guys call them and the gt4 ra as its called here in auckland. Its the 255bhp model and the question is down the back straights today at top speed it was hitting some sort of ecu limiter at 210kph....now is it a ecu fuel cut or boost cut or is it like on some models a speedo limiter in the back of the cluster etc like a pin or screw????Does anyone know?hope pees can help me cheers.

Fuel cut is like hitting c brick walk. Usually the ecu light will come on too. With regard to speed limiter it is 112 ish mph where your speed is 130 mph. strange when it limit does it jolt or just stop pulling.

it does jolt its like ive still got my foot to the floor on track but there is just nothing almost as if the car cuts out the power just vanishes.then when i slow a little and drop it a gear its back to full boost.its very strange its defo not fuel cut as ecu light doesnt come on and it must be speed related as if i hit in 4th or 5th its the same 210ks

It would be worth pulling the dash out and checking to see if it has been fitted with a speed delimiter. This should be a separate little box attached to the PCB at the back of the instrument cluster. This would eliminate or confirm that as a cause.

Sounds like speed limiter to me, don't forget your speedo might well be out quite a bit. Have you changed your plugs and leads and what boost are you running?

Agree with above - sounds like speed limiter.

Is the dash in KMH or MPH and what is the units used for speed limits in auckland?

You will need to get a speed limit defencer - type depends on the above question.

255bhp indicates it is a ST205 so it is an electrical speed limit defencer you will need.

As an aletrnative to a speed limit defencer you can use a KMH to MPH convertor which effectively moves the 180 KMH speed limit to 180MPH :-) But your speedo will now be in MPH!

yeah lol i see the problem on the kph to mph...unfortunately its kph here in nz and i wouldnt mind so much converting it over but the police here are hotter on speeding than anyone ever has been in any other country.i have found out about the defencer and got one just need to wire it into the ecu now.

AFAIK on the 185 the speed sensor goes to the ECU first then loops on to the dash, therefore if the convertor is fitted in the dash the ECU is still seeing KpH. Other possibility is that sometimes the conversion is done by changing the dash face.
