Hi guys

the lambda sensor was faulty when i got my car, but as i am running a caldina turbo and manifold, the replacement 205 one doesnt fit. however, the one that is in there right now is brand new, so i was wondering wether it has been wired up correctly to the original connector.

if you can kinda see, the caldina sensor has one black and three white wires, while the 205 one has two black and blue and white. does anyone know if mine has been wired correctly? or know how it should be wired to the original 205 connector?

Firstly as a new owner, download workshop manuals from

http://gtfaff.com/downloads/

The 4 wires on the sensor are signal, earth and then 2 wires for heater. The 205 manual lists wire colours as follows:

HTR+ B-Y (black with yellow stripe)
HTR- P-L (pink with blue stripe)
EARTH BR (brown)
SIGNAL W (white)

Looking on my car, these connect to the following colours on the sensor itself:

HTR+ B-Y --- black on sensor
HTR- P-L ---- black on sensor
EARTH BR --- white on sensor
SIGNAL W ---- blue on sensor

I don't have info on the caldina sensor, but if you have a multimeter set it to resistance (ohms). Unplug the sensor from the car and measure the sensor with the meter.
You should find a low resistance between 2 wires, these will be the heater (I would guess 2 of the black ones). Get these connected up correctly first and plug the senor back in and fire up the engine. Switch the meter to volts DC and measure between the 2 remaining wires from the probe. You should see a varying signal between about 0.2V and 1V. Make sure the - output goes to the earth connecting and the + output goes to signal.

Caldina sensor is different type to St205 - you can't use it.

Measure the thread on teh caldina sensor and look for a universal 4 wire zirconia sensor on line - is about £35 and as standard comes with a thread on sensor.

I think Caldina is a 4 wire titania which gives a 0-5V out. You need 0-1V out zirconia.

I think std is a 18mm spark plug thread on the universal sensors.

thanks for the responses.. an update:

i took out and checked the sensor today, i believe it has been wired up properly, although the wires on the car loom are slightly different colours. i checked over the signal and the earth and the readings were all between 0 and 1v. im going to order another one tonight anyway and get it sorted.
